Recruitment of Policy Leaders Program 2025-2026

    Deadline: December 8/22, 2025

The Recruitment of Policy Leaders Program 2025-2026 is now open for applications, offering an exceptional pathway for experienced professionals to join mid- to senior-level policy roles within the Government of Canada. This prestigious initiative identifies high-potential leaders who can contribute to strategic policymaking across federal departments. The programme provides access to career development support, mentorship, and a strong professional network designed to accelerate growth within Canada’s public service. If you are passionate about shaping national policy and driving meaningful impact, this is a unique opportunity.

About the Recruitment of Policy Leaders Program 2025-2026

The programme aims to develop a pool of qualified candidates ready for leadership opportunities within Canada’s federal public service. Successful applicants may be appointed to roles such as Senior Policy Analyst at levels EC-05 to EC-07. These positions offer competitive salaries ranging from USD 100,265 to USD 146,936 (or the equivalent in CAD).

Participants benefit from structured orientation sessions, curated networking events, guidance from programme alumni, and access to a broad network of policy professionals. Together, these components ensure that selected candidates are fully equipped to excel in strategic policy environments across the Government of Canada.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Applications are primarily open to:

    • Canadian citizens or permanent residents, whether located within or outside Canada.
    • Individuals living in Canada without citizenship or permanent residency may apply. However, preference will be given first to veterans and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

Applicants with expertise aligned with federal priority areas may receive additional consideration. These areas include:

    • Artificial intelligence and technological innovation
    • Border security and public safety
    • Indigenous-resource relations
    • National security
    • Economic growth
    • Infrastructure and housing
    • Trade and investment

    Benefits

    • Potential appointment to high-impact policy roles across federal agencies
    • Competitive mid-senior level salary range
    • Access to a national network of policy professionals
    • Mentorship from Programme alumni
    • Orientation training and structured networking opportunities

    Application Streams and Deadlines

You may apply through one of the three available streams:

    1. General Stream

    • Open to all applicants
    • Deadline: 8 December 2025, 11:59 PM EST

    2. Indigenous Stream

    • For applicants who self-declare as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis
    • Deadline: 22 December 2025, 11:59 PM EST

    3. Persons with Disabilities Stream

    • For applicants who self-declare as persons living with a disability
    • Deadline: 22 December 2025, 11:59 PM EST

    Important Note:
Candidates should apply only once. If eligible for more than one targeted stream (e.g., both Indigenous and disability), they must apply under the Indigenous Stream.

    Additional Information

This opportunity is primarily intended for individuals who already have legal eligibility to work in Canada (citizenship or permanent residency). Those outside Canada without this status may apply but should note the preferential hiring order that prioritises veterans, citizens, and permanent residents.
