New Africa Fund’s Africa Impact Fundraising (AIF) Grant

    Deadline: December 16, 2025

The Call for Applications: New Africa Fund’s Africa Impact Fundraising (AIF) Grant is now open for NGOs, community-based organisations, and social enterprises across Africa. This opportunity supports organisations committed to deepening their fundraising capacity, strengthening financial systems, and expanding their long-term sustainability. The programme offers up to US $5,000 in matching funds, intensive training, fiscal sponsorship, and a high-impact residential bootcamp for the top-performing teams.

    About the Opportunity

The Africa Impact Fundraising (AIF) Grant is an initiative of the New Africa Fund designed to help African NGOs and social enterprises build the skills and systems needed for long-term fundraising success. Unlike traditional grants, the AIF model combines capacity building, a practical fundraising challenge, and performance-based matching funds.

Selected organisations begin with training, followed by a 30-day fundraising campaign where they engage individual donors. Based on their performance, they may receive up to US $5,000 in matching funds. The programme also offers 12 months of free fiscal sponsorship, enabling organisations to receive and manage funds with improved financial structure and credibility. The top-performing organisations (approximately 10) will be invited to a residential bootcamp in Kigali, Rwanda, for advanced training in financial management, donor engagement, grant writing, and sustainable income generation.

    Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Be an NGO, CBO, or social enterprise registered in any of the 55 African Union member states.
    • Provide a valid registration certificate.
    • Submit either:
      • The most recent external audit or
      • Financial statements covering the last five months (if no audit is available).
    • Demonstrate readiness to participate in a 30-day fundraising campaign, including donor outreach and structured fundraising activities.

Benefits of the AIF Grant Programme

    Successful applicants will receive:

    1. Matching Funds (Up to US $5,000)

Organisations will run a 30-day fundraising campaign, after which the New Africa Fund will match part or all of the amount raised, up to US $5,000. This incentivises effective donor engagement and empowers organisations to build a sustainable giving pipeline.

    2. Fundraising Training

All selected groups receive expert-led training covering essential aspects of fundraising strategy, donor management, storytelling, campaign planning, and digital fundraising approaches.

    3. Fiscal Sponsorship (12 Months)

Organisations benefit from free fiscal sponsorship for a full year. This enhances financial accountability, donor trust, and institutional credibility — especially valuable for emerging organisations.

    4. Kigali Residential Bootcamp

The top-performing organisations from the fundraising challenge will attend a fully designed residential bootcamp in Kigali, Rwanda, focused on advanced fundraising, multi-year donor cultivation, financial leadership, and organisational sustainability.

    Application Documents Required

    Applicants must prepare and submit:

    • Registration certificate
    • Latest external audit report or five months of financial statements
    • Organisational structure or leadership chart
    • A brief fundraising strategy (recommended)
    • Any other documents requested in the application form

    Timeline & Key Date

    Application Deadline:
    16 December 2025 – 5:00 PM UTC

Organisations are encouraged to apply early and ensure all documents are ready before submission.

    How to Apply

Applications must be submitted through the official New Africa Fund online application portal. Applicants should complete the form, upload required documents, and articulate a clear approach for participation in the 30-day fundraising challenge.

    Selection Process

The AIF Grant selection process includes:

    1. Screening of applications for compliance and eligibility.
    2. Invitation to capacity-building sessions for selected organisations.
    3. 30-day fundraising challenge, where performance determines eligibility for matching funds.
    4. Selection of top performers to participate in the Kigali residential bootcamp.

Performance, commitment, donor engagement results, and overall fundraising strategy will influence final selection.

    Additional Information / Terms

    • Matching funds are awarded based on amounts raised during the challenge period.
    • Fiscal sponsorship may be extended beyond one year based on organisational performance.
    • Participation in training sessions and the fundraising challenge is mandatory.
    • Organisations must adhere to transparency and reporting requirements set by the New Africa Fund.
