    About the Thomas Edison Innovation Law and Policy Fellowship 2026–2027

    The Thomas Edison Innovation Law and Policy Fellowship is hosted by the Intellectual Property and Policy Institute (IPPI) at the University of Akron. The programme offers a unique platform for scholars to engage deeply with innovation law and policy issues, contribute new research, and connect with senior scholars and industry experts.

    Through its structured research and mentoring framework, the fellowship aims to advance understanding in the field of intellectual property and innovation policy while fostering scholarly collaboration.


    Programme Structure and Duration

    This is a non-resident fellowship that spans one year (2026–2027). Throughout the fellowship period, participants will:

    • Develop and refine an original research paper on innovation law and policy.
    • Participate in structured discussions and roundtables with leading academics and industry professionals.
    • Receive expert feedback to enhance their work for publication in respected law or peer-reviewed journals.

    Eligibility Criteria
