About the Fellowship
The King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme – Climate Resilience Fellowships 2026 is inspired by His Majesty King Charles III’s vision of a sustainable future. It is designed to empower professionals across Commonwealth Small Island Developing States (SIDS) who are actively working to enhance climate adaptation and resilience in their communities.
This one-year professional development programme combines academic learning, applied research, and practical experience. It brings together passionate professionals to exchange ideas, collaborate, and develop climate-smart solutions tailored to their unique island contexts.

Fellowship Structure and Benefits
The fellowship provides a rich blend of learning and practice through three main components:
1️⃣ Online Training Course (February – July 2026)
An 18-week online learning journey focused on:
- Climate literacy and adaptation strategies
- Cross-sectoral collaboration
- Influencing and implementing policy
- Accessing and managing climate finance
2️⃣ In-Person Residential in Fiji (August 2026)
A five-day residential training in Fiji, where fellows from across the Commonwealth will convene to share experiences, engage in workshops, and network with leading experts in climate resilience.
3️⃣ Workplace-Based Applied Learning Project (August – December 2026)
Each fellow will design and implement a five-month project within their home institution. This hands-on component allows participants to translate knowledge into real-world solutions that support national and community climate goals.
4️⃣ Virtual Community of Practice
Fellows will gain access to an exclusive online community, fostering peer learning, collaboration, and continued professional support even after the fellowship ends.
💡 Note: The programme allows participants to remain in their current employment throughout the fellowship.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme – Climate Resilience Fellowships 2026, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Professional Level: Be a mid-career professional with 5–15 years of experience in climate adaptation practice or a closely related field.
- Career Commitment: Show a clear commitment to continuing in climate adaptation for at least 10–20 more years in progressively responsible roles.
- Employment: Must be currently employed at an organisation registered in an eligible country, with a valid employment contract extending until at least February 2027.
- Citizenship: Be a citizen of, or hold refugee status in, an eligible Commonwealth Small Island Developing State (SIDS), and have a permanent home in that country.
