    Call for Solutions 2026: UNDP Youth4Climate Global Innovation Challenge

    The Call for Solutions 2026: UNDP Youth4Climate Global Innovation Challenge is now open for applications. This global initiative, led by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with the Government of Italy, aims to empower young innovators with the resources, visibility, and technical support they need to scale up impactful climate solutions.

    Designed to mobilise youth-led climate action across the world, the challenge provides funding, mentorship, and capacity-building opportunities for young people who are driving change in their communities and beyond.


    About the Youth4Climate Global Innovation Challenge

    The Youth4Climate Global Innovation Challenge is a flagship programme under the UNDP’s Climate Promise initiative. It seeks to identify and support innovative, youth-led climate solutions that address some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.

    Through this call, young changemakers are invited to submit proposals that align with the challenge’s focus areas. Selected applicants will receive funding and technical support to scale their solutions and create lasting environmental and social impact.


    Application Deadline

    All submissions for the Call for Solutions 2026: UNDP Youth4Climate Global Innovation Challenge must be completed and submitted by 30 April 2026. Late applications will not be considered.


    Who Can Apply

    The Call for Solutions 2026 is open to:

    • Young individuals aged 18–29 years
    • Youth-led organisations, including civil society organisations (CSOs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community-based organisations (CBOs), and private companies, where the majority of leadership is between 18–29 years old

    The primary project lead must be within this age range at the time of submission. Projects must also be implemented in eligible countries as outlined in the official Call guidelines.


    Funding and Benefits

    Selected applicants will receive:

    • Up to USD 30,000 in seed funding to implement or scale their projects
    • Access to capacity-building, mentorship, and global networking opportunities
    • Visibility through UNDP’s international platforms and Youth4Climate initiatives

    This support aims to strengthen youth-led solutions, encourage innovation, and accelerate progress toward sustainable development and climate resilience.


    Thematic Areas for 2026

    Applicants can submit their proposals under one of the following thematic areas:

    1. Sustainable Energy – Innovative energy solutions that promote access, efficiency, and renewable alternatives.
    2. Food and Agriculture – Projects that advance climate-smart agricultural practices and sustainable food systems.
    3. Climate, Peace and Security – Initiatives addressing the intersection of climate impacts, stability, and community resilience.
    4. Oceans and Blue Economy – Solutions that protect marine ecosystems and promote sustainable ocean-based livelihoods.
    5. Sustainable Fashion and Textiles – Ideas fostering eco-conscious production, recycling, and consumption within the fashion industry.
    6. Architecture for Adaptation – Creative approaches to sustainable, climate-resilient infrastructure and design.

    What the Challenge Supports

    The Youth4Climate Global Innovation Challenge supports youth-driven climate action projects that demonstrate strong potential for impact, scalability, and sustainability. It focuses on solutions that:

    • Address climate change mitigation or adaptation
    • Strengthen community resilience
    • Foster innovation and collaboration among young people
    • Contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

    Winners will also gain valuable exposure, mentorship, and the chance to connect with international partners and experts working in climate and development sectors.
