    UNESCO World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2026

    The UNESCO World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2026 presents an exceptional opportunity for emerging heritage professionals across the globe to deepen their knowledge and actively engage in the protection and promotion of our shared heritage. Taking place in the Republic of Korea from 13 to 21 July 2026, this fully funded international programme is part of the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee.

    Organised under the UNESCO World Heritage Education Programme, the forum aims to empower young people as active agents of change in the field of heritage conservation, community participation, and education.


    About the UNESCO World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2026

    The UNESCO World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2026 will gather outstanding young professionals from around the world to exchange ideas, share experiences, and collaborate on innovative approaches to heritage conservation. The event promotes intercultural dialogue, peer learning, and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities surrounding the management of World Heritage properties.

    This fully funded programme offers participants a platform to connect with global experts, engage in practical learning experiences, and explore cultural sites in the Republic of Korea, all while contributing to the shared global mission of preserving World Heritage for future generations.


    Theme of the Forum

    The 2026 edition will focus on the theme:

    “World Heritage, Communities and Education: Empowering Youth as Agents of Change.”

    This theme highlights the crucial role that education and youth participation play in building inclusive and sustainable heritage management systems. Participants will explore how communities can be integrated into heritage decision-making and how young professionals can contribute innovative perspectives to heritage education and preservation.


    Who Can Apply

    The forum welcomes applicants who meet the following eligibility criteria:

    • Age: Applicants must be between 23 and 32 years old (born between 1994 and 2003).
    • Professional Background: Candidates should be actively involved or have professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
      • Heritage conservation and management
      • Education and teaching
      • Heritage research or innovation
      • Community-based or non-governmental heritage work
    • Motivation: Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment and motivation to engage in World Heritage activities or community development.
    • Language: All sessions will be conducted in English, and participants must have proficiency in the language.

    What the Programme Covers (Fully Funded)

    The UNESCO World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2026 is fully funded, covering all essential costs for selected participants, including:

    • International return airfare (economy class)
    • Accommodation for the duration of the forum
    • Local transportation within the Republic of Korea
    • Meals and daily allowances
    • Visa fees (if applicable)

    Please note that any extended stay beyond the official programme dates must be self-funded by the participant.


    Forum Activities

    The forum offers a rich, immersive learning experience designed to combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on engagement. Activities include:

    • Expert-led lectures and keynote presentations
    • Interactive group discussions and workshops
    • Field visits to World Heritage properties in Korea
    • Networking sessions with heritage professionals and UNESCO officials
    • Collaborative development of a Youth Declaration, to be presented at the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee

    Through these experiences, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how communities and education can work together to support sustainable World Heritage management.

    It is crucial to ensure that all sections of the form are accurately filled and supported by relevant experience, statements of motivation, and reference materials.
