    The programme is structured to blend theory, practical application, and peer collaboration. Participants will explore global sustainability challenges, engage in strategic leadership exercises, and design solutions applicable to their own organisations.


    Who Should Apply

    The programme is specifically designed for senior executives and experienced leaders who:

    • Hold senior leadership roles such as CEO, Managing Director, or senior manager
    • Lead or significantly influence organisational strategy
    • Possess substantial leadership experience
    • Are committed to embedding sustainability into their business strategy

    Eligible candidates must be citizens and residents of participating countries, including several African nations such as Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, South Africa, Rwanda, and Tanzania.


    Programme Focus and Structure

    The Swedish Institute (SI) Global Executive Programme 2026 emphasises sustainable business development and strategic leadership. Participants will engage in the following core activities:

    • Online Learning Modules: A series of virtual sessions combining workshops, discussions, and peer learning
    • Collaborative Projects: Participants will develop and implement a sustainability-driven strategic project within their organisations
    • Onsite Session in Sweden: A one-week immersion in Sweden, allowing participants to engage with Swedish companies, policymakers, and sustainability experts
    • Coaching and Networking: Access to world-class mentors, sustainability professionals, and fellow executives for knowledge exchange and collaboration

    The curriculum is built around real-world business challenges and equips participants with actionable insights to drive organisational change.

    Cost and Funding

    However, participants or their respective organisations are responsible for travel expenses to and from Sweden for the onsite component of the programme. Accommodation and meals during the onsite week are typically covered by the organisers.


    Eligibility Criteria

    To be eligible for the Swedish Institute (SI) Global Executive Programme 2026, applicants must:

    • Be a citizen and resident of one of the eligible countries
    • Hold a senior leadership position within their organisation
    • Have completed a post-secondary degree (minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
    • Be proficient in English, both written and spoken
    • Be able to actively participate throughout the programme duration

    Applicants should also demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainability and a clear vision for how to influence positive change within their organisations and sectors.
