Selected fellows will receive a USD $15,000 stipend over the two-year period to support their participation in research, training, and professional development activities.
Programme Components
The fellowship offers a comprehensive learning and research experience, which includes:
- Randomised Evaluation Work: Fellows will actively participate in the design and execution of real-world impact evaluations alongside J-PAL staff and affiliated researchers.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be based in the MENA region and demonstrate strong professional and academic ties to the region.
- Hold a specialisation in economics or related disciplines, such as public policy, political science, public health, or statistics.
- Apply under one of the following tracks:
- Track 1: Currently enrolled in a PhD programme in economics or a closely related field.
- Track 2: Hold a PhD and be affiliated with an academic institution within the MENA region.
- Demonstrate proficiency in both Arabic and English.
- Have working knowledge of Stata or R (strongly recommended).
- Show a clear interest in impact evaluation research related to development policy in the MENA region.
