    Weil Legal Innovators Program 2026-2027

    Deadline: March 16, 2026

Applications are now open for the Weil Legal Innovators Program 2026-2027 — a prestigious, fully funded public service fellowship designed to empower incoming law students who are passionate about driving social change and making meaningful contributions before beginning law school.

This unique initiative provides participants with a paid year-long opportunity to work with leading non-profit organisations in the United States, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in the fields of social justice, legal access, and community development.

About the Weil Legal Innovators Program 2026-2027

The Weil Legal Innovators Program 2026-2027 is sponsored by Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, one of the world’s leading international law firms. The programme aims to bridge academic study and practical legal experience by placing selected participants in high-impact roles within non-profit organisations before they begin their Juris Doctor (J.D.) studies.

During this one-year fellowship, participants—known as Weil Legal Innovators (WLIs)—will contribute to social impact projects, legal advocacy, and community-based initiatives, while receiving mentorship and training from seasoned professionals in both the public and private legal sectors.

    What the Programme Offers

Successful applicants will receive comprehensive financial, professional, and academic benefits, including:

    • Paid Fellowship Year: A salary of $60,000, provided through the host non-profit organisation, alongside health benefits.
    • Law School Scholarship: An additional $10,000 scholarship towards law school tuition or related academic expenses.
    • Fully Funded Travel: All expenses covered for two trips to New York City — one at the start and one at the end of the fellowship — for induction, conferences, and training sessions.
    • Professional Development: Access to continuous skill-building workshops, networking sessions, and leadership development opportunities.
    • Mentorship: One-on-one mentorship from Weil attorneys, legal experts, and non-profit leaders.
    • Guaranteed Interview: Upon completion, Innovators receive a guaranteed interview opportunity for the Weil Summer Associate Programme.

    • Must be able to attend the orientation event in New York City from 13–15 July 2026 (all travel and accommodation costs covered).
    • Open to both recent graduates and professionals seeking to pursue law school after relevant work experience.
    • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States (visa sponsorship is not provided).
