John Allwright Fellowship (JAF) Programme 2027

    Deadline: April 30, 2026

The John Allwright Fellowship (JAF) Programme 2027 offers a unique opportunity for agricultural researchers and scientists from ACIAR partner countries to pursue advanced postgraduate studies in Australia. Fully funded by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), this prestigious fellowship aims to strengthen agricultural research capacity, foster international collaboration, and promote sustainable development through knowledge exchange.

About the John Allwright Fellowship (JAF) Programme 2027

The John Allwright Fellowship (JAF) Programme 2027 is designed for scientists and economists currently involved in ACIAR-supported projects. The programme enables them to undertake a Master’s by Research or PhD degree at a recognised Australian university.

The fellowship not only provides academic training but also focuses on developing leadership and research management skills that contribute to agricultural innovation and food security in partner countries.

Through this programme, ACIAR seeks to enhance the ability of researchers to apply scientific knowledge and contribute effectively to agricultural development in their home institutions and communities.

    Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the 2027 intake, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Be employed on a permanent or long-term basis with an organisation involved in agricultural research.
    • Hold a qualification equivalent to at least an Australian Bachelor’s degree relevant to the proposed field of study.
    • Demonstrate English language proficiency or be willing to undertake an approved language test (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL).
    • Be endorsed by their employer, ACIAR project leaders, and proposed academic supervisors.

    Fellowship Benefits

The John Allwright Fellowship (JAF) Programme 2027 provides a comprehensive funding package to ensure scholars can focus fully on their studies. The award includes:

    • Establishment allowance to cover initial expenses such as accommodation, books, and study materials.
    • Fortnightly living allowance to assist with everyday costs.
    • Introductory Academic Programme (IAP) to prepare scholars for study in Australia.
    • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of the award.
