    AIG Public Leaders Programme 2026

    The AIG Public Leaders Programme 2026 offers a unique opportunity for emerging public sector leaders across Africa to enhance their leadership, policy and governance capabilities. The programme is designed to strengthen the skills of senior public servants, equipping them to drive transformational change within their institutions and countries.

    Delivered by the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, in partnership with the AIG Imoukhuede Foundation, this world-class programme provides participants with practical tools and knowledge to better navigate complex public challenges and deliver sustainable impact.


    About the AIG Public Leaders Programme

    The AIG Public Leaders Programme (AIG PLP) is an intensive executive training initiative aimed at developing outstanding African public sector leaders. The programme provides an immersive learning experience that focuses on strategic leadership, effective policy implementation, and ethical public service.

    Through academic modules, case studies, peer learning and mentorship, participants gain valuable insights into global best practices in governance, digital innovation and public sector management.


    Programme Focus Areas

    The AIG Public Leaders Programme 2026 covers a wide range of topics designed to strengthen leadership and governance skills, including:

    • Negotiating in the public interest
    • Harnessing digital technology for governance
    • Strengthening public organisations
    • Integrity in public life
    • Communication and narrative power
    • Capstone projects connecting theory with real-world public sector challenges

    Each module is delivered by world-class faculty and seasoned practitioners, ensuring that participants acquire both academic and practical perspectives.

    Eligibility Criteria

    To be eligible for the AIG Public Leaders Programme 2026, applicants must:

    • Be a citizen of an English-speaking African country
    • Be currently working in the public sector within Africa
    • Possess a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant work experience
    • Hold a Grade Level 13 position or above, or an equivalent senior role
    • Be between the ages of 35 and 54 years

    Ideal candidates are dynamic public servants who are passionate about improving governance and public service delivery in Africa.


    Programme Structure

    Participants will undergo an intensive series of interactive modules, practical exercises and reflective sessions. The curriculum blends academic rigour with real-life case studies, encouraging participants to apply learning directly to their institutional challenges.

    Additionally, participants will complete a Capstone Project, integrating key learnings into a practical initiative or reform relevant to their role or organisation.
