This exciting opportunity invites passionate nano- and micro-influencers across the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region to join a dynamic three-month, part-time fellowship aimed at strengthening information integrity and resilience within local communities.


    About the Code for Africa Mythbusters Fellowships in the SADC Region 2026

    The fellowship is an initiative of Code for Africa (CfA), in partnership with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, designed to tackle misinformation and harmful narratives that undermine democratic processes, social cohesion and public trust.

    This programme focuses on empowering influencers with the tools and knowledge needed to identify, debunk and counter misinformation through engaging and impactful digital content. By participating, fellows will become key advocates for truth, accuracy and evidence-based communication within their respective communities.

    • Type: Part-time Fellowship
    • Duration: Three months
    • Region: Southern African Development Community (SADC)

    Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must:

    • Be nano- or micro-influencers with an active and engaged audience on social media platforms.
    • Maintain a non-partisan stance, free from political or state affiliations that could suggest bias.
    • Have the ability to create and share content aimed at addressing misinformation and harmful narratives.
    • Demonstrate fluency in English or French.
    • Possess reliable computer equipment and internet access.
    • Be available to participate in virtual training and mentorship sessions throughout the fellowship period.

    Target Countries

    The fellowship will focus on influencers based in the following SADC countries:

    • Democratic Republic of the Congo
    • Madagascar
    • South Africa
    • United Republic of Tanzania

    Focus Areas

    Fellows will engage in content creation and counter-narrative campaigns targeting specific areas of misinformation and manipulation, including:

    • Climate-related misinformation
    • Foreign information manipulation and interference
    • The 2026 South African municipal elections
    • Xenophobia and related social tensions
