About the World Energy Council Future Energy Leaders Programme 2026

The Future Energy Leaders (FEL) Programme is a global network developed by the World Energy Council to nurture and connect young professionals across the energy value chain. It provides a unique platform for future leaders to participate in strategic discussions, collaborate on innovative projects, and contribute to shaping global energy policies.

Through this programme, participants — known as Future Energy Leaders — engage in high-level dialogues, knowledge exchange, and hands-on experiences that help shape the future of energy systems. The FEL community is a diverse group of professionals dedicated to advancing sustainable energy practices, sharing insights, and promoting actionable solutions.

Each year, approximately 35 outstanding young professionals from around the world are selected to join the FEL network, gaining access to a vibrant ecosystem of peers and senior industry leaders.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Future Energy Leaders Programme 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be under 35 years old at the time of application.
  • Possess 3–5 years of professional or junior management experience in an energy-related role.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership potential and professional achievements.
  • Have a clear passion and background in the energy sector or related fields such as sustainability, energy policy, or renewable energy.
  • Show motivation and commitment to actively engage in the FEL network for one to three years.
  • Be proficient in English (both written and spoken).
  • Obtain employer endorsement confirming their participation and support.
  • Be available to contribute at least 15–20 days per year to programme activities, including major events.
