Overview of the Call
This call is issued under the Corporate Accountability Initiative (CAI) and invites applications for a sub-grant to conduct a country-based research study.
The selected organisation will be expected to produce a comprehensive report examining:
- Working conditions of private security personnel (PSPs)
- Potential human rights abuses affecting corporate value chains
- Risks linked to high-risk sectors in Nigeria
The research will particularly focus on sectors such as:
- Extractives
- Forestry
- Agriculture
- Finance
Grant Instrument: Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP)
The funding is provided through the Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) mechanism, also referred to as cascade funding.
This approach allows larger initiatives to redistribute funds to external organisations to implement targeted projects, such as this research study in Nigeria.
Funding Amount and Duration
Successful applicants will receive:
- Grant value: €30,000 (Thirty Thousand Euros)
- Project duration: Between 3 and 6 months
- Number of awards: Only one project will be selected under this call
Project Objective
The primary objective of this sub-grant is to publish a detailed country report that highlights:
- Labour conditions of private security workers
- Human rights concerns within corporate operations
- Accountability gaps in high-risk industries
- Impacts on workers and communities in Nigeria
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a civil society organisation, NGO, or other non-profit entity
- Be legally registered in Nigeria
- Have been operational for at least three (3) years
- Demonstrate prior experience conducting research on:
- Private security
- Labour rights
- Human rights issues
- Have a functional accounting and financial management system capable of handling grant funds and reporting
Only organisations that fulfil all eligibility criteria will be considered.

All applications must be submitted no later than:
1 March 2026 (23:59 CET)
