    The Call for Applications for Mythbusters Fellowships in Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal (2026) is now open, offering a unique opportunity for nano- and micro-influencers to actively combat disinformation and promote information integrity across West Africa. The fellowship is implemented by Code for Africa (CfA) in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

    This six-month, part-time fellowship targets community-rooted digital voices who can help amplify evidence-based information in Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal through trusted networks and local languages.


    About the Mythbusters Fellowship Programme

    The Mythbusters Fellowship Programme is designed to strengthen community resilience against misinformation and disinformation. Fellows will serve as trusted messengers, working directly with forensic investigators and fact-checking teams to translate verified findings into accessible, engaging content for public consumption.

    The programme places a strong emphasis on ethical reporting, accuracy, and the responsible use of digital platforms.


    Fellowship Structure and Duration

    • Duration: Six (6) months
    • Engagement type: Part-time
    • Format: Fully remote with virtual meetings
    • Time commitment: Minimum of two one-hour virtual meetings per week

    Key Responsibilities of Fellows

    Selected fellows will be expected to:

    • Collaborate with Code for Africa’s iLAB forensic investigation team and PesaCheck to analyse, interpret, and amplify fact-checked information.
    • Produce short, engaging, and shareable content (graphics, audio, or video) tailored for social media and other public platforms.
    • Create and distribute content in French and local languages, ensuring accessibility for community audiences.
    • Actively publish and amplify fellowship outputs using personal social media channels.
    • Participate in structured training sessions on fact-checking, ethics, and accuracy delivered by Académie.AFRIQUE.
    • Attend mentoring sessions led by regional and international experts.
    • Share newly acquired skills with peers and broader journalism or research communities.
    • Join the Coalition of Peacebuilders (COPP) influencers network, including participation in networking events and conferences.

    Training, Mentorship, and Professional Development

    Fellows will receive:

    • Hands-on training in verification methodologies and ethical content creation.
    • Ongoing mentorship from experienced investigators, journalists, and digital experts.
    • Opportunities to engage with continental networks focused on peacebuilding and information integrity.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

    • Be a nano- or micro-influencer based in Côte d’Ivoire or Senegal.
    • Maintain an active and engaged social media presence.
    • Demonstrate non-partisan positioning, with no affiliation to political parties, government institutions, or state-affiliated media organisations.
    • Be willing to publish fellowship outputs on public platforms.
    • Be fluent in French; knowledge of Wolof (for Senegal) or other local languages is an added advantage.
    • Have reliable access to a computer and stable internet connection.
    • Commit to sharing knowledge gained with professional networks and community groups.
    • Be available for regular virtual meetings throughout the fellowship duration.
