Now in its 18th year, the Zayed Sustainability Prize 2027 continues the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, celebrating innovations that create measurable social and environmental impact.


Who Can Apply for the Zayed Sustainability Prize 2027

The call is open to a wide range of participants driving sustainable solutions. Eligible applicants include:

  • Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)
  • Nonprofit Organisations (NPOs)
  • High Schools (through student-led projects)

The Prize welcomes entries that contribute meaningfully to sustainable development goals, enhance community resilience, and promote social and environmental wellbeing globally.


Prize Categories and Funding

Applications for the Zayed Sustainability Prize 2027 are open across six main categories:

  1. Health
  2. Food
  3. Energy
  4. Water
  5. Climate Action
  6. Global High Schools

Each category celebrates innovation that delivers measurable change in sustainability and human development.

💰 Prize Amounts

  • US $1 million for each winner in the five organisational categories (Health, Food, Energy, Water, and Climate Action).
  • US $150,000 for winners in the Global High Schools category.
  • US $100,000 for organisational finalists and US $25,000 for Global High School finalists.

This enhanced funding model, introduced in the 2026 cycle, aims to empower more innovators to expand their impact and scale sustainable solutions globally.


Evaluation Criteria and Selection Process

Applicants are evaluated based on three core criteria:

  1. Impact – The measurable and tangible benefits delivered to communities.
  2. Innovation – The originality, creativity, and effectiveness of the proposed solution.
  3. Inspiration – The ability of the initiative to inspire others to take action.

Submissions are accepted in seven languages – Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish – ensuring accessibility and global participation.

The evaluation process is conducted in three stages:

  • Due Diligence Review
  • Expert Committee Assessment
  • Final Jury Selection

This rigorous process guarantees transparency and ensures that only the most innovative and impactful projects are awarded.
