    Funded Traineeship for Young Graduates at the EU Delegation to Indonesia – 2026

    The Funded Traineeship for Young Graduates at the EU Delegation to Indonesia – 2026 is a fully funded international traineeship opportunity for young graduates interested in diplomacy, international relations, public policy, and ASEAN–EU cooperation. The programme is hosted by the European Union Delegation to Indonesia and ASEAN, based in Jakarta, Indonesia, and offers hands-on experience within a high-level international diplomatic mission.

    This traineeship is designed to provide early-career graduates with practical exposure to EU external action, political affairs, public diplomacy, and regional cooperation with ASEAN.


    Traineeship Overview

    • Host Organisation: European Union Delegation to Indonesia and ASEAN
    • Location: Jakarta, Indonesia
    • Programme Type: Funded Traineeship for Young Graduates
    • Target Group: Recent graduates with an interest in international relations and diplomacy

    Traineeship Duration

    • Length: 3 to 6 months
    • Possible Start Dates: March/April 2026 or October 2026 (subject to operational needs and budget availability)

    Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

    • Must be a young graduate holding at least a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
    • Must have no more than one year of professional experience after graduation.
      (Internships, student jobs, and voluntary work undertaken during studies are not considered professional experience.)
    • Must be currently residing in Indonesia, due to local health and security considerations.
    • Must demonstrate a strong interest in international relations, diplomacy, and EU–ASEAN cooperation.
    • Must have excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
    • Knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is considered a strong advantage.

    Key Responsibilities and Tasks

    During the traineeship, selected candidates may be involved in the following activities:

    • Preparing and contributing to the ASEAN Weekly News.
    • Supporting the development and implementation of the monthly social media plan.
    • Reporting on political meetings and assisting with briefings, speeches, and background notes.
    • Supporting the organisation of events, policy dialogues, and official meetings.
    • Conducting research and analysis on ASEAN political, economic, and regional developments.
    • Assisting with public diplomacy and cultural events, including Europe Day, Climate Week, and other EU-led initiatives.

    Financial Support and Benefits

    • Selected trainees will receive a monthly grant intended to help cover basic living expenses during the traineeship period.
    • The traineeship does not cover the following costs:
      • International or local travel
      • Visa fees
      • Accommodation
      • Health or travel insurance

    All additional expenses must be covered by the trainee.

    1. A standard Europass CV (applications using other CV formats will not be accepted).
    2. A cover letter clearly explaining motivation and interest in the traineeship.
    3. A completed application form, as required by the EU Delegation.
