With a total prize pool of up to ₦9 million, the hackathon provides a unique opportunity for young innovators to showcase their skills, gain industry exposure, and contribute to the future of digital insurance in Nigeria.

    The Heirs Insurance Hackathon 2026 brings together creativity, technology, and problem-solving, positioning participants at the forefront of insurance innovation.


    Overview of the Heirs Insurance Hackathon 2026

    The Heirs Insurance Hackathon 2026 is organised by Heirs Insurance Group to encourage the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in solving pressing challenges across the insurance value chain. Participants are expected to conceptualise and build practical, scalable, and impactful solutions that can transform how insurance services are delivered in Nigeria.

    This hackathon focuses on real industry problems and promotes innovation that enhances efficiency, accessibility, and customer experience within the insurance ecosystem.


    Who Can Apply

    Applications are open to:

    • Students currently enrolled in universities, polytechnics, or other recognised tertiary institutions in Nigeria
    • Individual innovators or student teams
    • Applicants with interests in technology, artificial intelligence, fintech, digital innovation, or insurance

    Participants must be willing to develop and present AI-driven solutions aligned with the objectives of the hackathon.


    Focus Areas and Innovation Themes

    Participants are expected to develop solutions that:

    • Leverage Artificial Intelligence meaningfully
    • Address real challenges in the insurance industry
    • Demonstrate practicality, scalability, and sustainability

    Prize Structure: Up to ₦9 Million in Cash Rewards

    The Heirs Insurance Hackathon 2026 offers substantial cash prizes to outstanding teams:

    • First Place: ₦5,000,000
    • Second Place: ₦3,000,000
    • Third Place: ₦1,000,000
