    World IP Day Youth Video Competition 2026

    The World IP Day Youth Video Competition 2026 is a global creative challenge organised to celebrate World Intellectual Property (IP) Day 2026. The competition invites young people from around the world to showcase, through short videos, how intellectual property drives innovation, creativity, and progress in sports.

    The World IP Day Youth Video Competition 2026 provides a unique platform for young innovators, creators, entrepreneurs, and storytellers to share their ideas, highlight real-world applications of IP, and gain international recognition.


    Overview of the World IP Day Youth Video Competition 2026

    World IP Day is celebrated annually on 24 April to raise awareness of how IP rights encourage innovation and creativity. As part of the 2026 celebration, this youth video competition challenges participants to visually explore the role of IP in transforming sports and athletic innovation.

    Participants are required to produce a short, original video aligned with the official theme and competition guidelines.


    Competition Theme

    “Game Changers: IP Powering Sports Innovation”

    The theme focuses on how intellectual property supports innovation in sports. This may include, but is not limited to:

    • New sports technologies and inventions
    • Creative designs, branding, and trademarks in sports
    • Entrepreneurial ideas transforming athletic performance or access
    • Digital innovation, data, and emerging technologies in sports

    Videos should clearly demonstrate how IP enables creativity, protects innovation, and contributes to progress within the sports ecosystem.


    Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)

    The competition is open to young people globally under the following conditions:

    • Open to individuals or teams of up to 10 participants
    • At least one team member must be aged 18–35 years at the time of submission
    • Each individual or team may submit only one entry
    • Participants from all countries are eligible to apply

    Video Submission Requirements

    To qualify, all video entries must meet the following requirements:

    • Video length: 60–90 seconds
    • Format: MP4
    • Content: Original work only (not previously published, submitted, or awarded elsewhere)
    • Subtitles: No embedded subtitles (captions will be generated automatically upon upload)
    • Watermarks: Not permitted
    • Third-party content: All music, images, footage, or materials must be properly licensed
    • Use of AI: Artificial Intelligence tools may be used, provided the submission complies with competition rules

    Failure to meet any of these requirements may result in disqualification.


    Important Dates

    • Submission deadline: 15 March 2026 (23:59 CET)
    • Public voting period (People’s Choice Prize): 6–19 April 2026
    • Winners announcement: 24 April 2026 (World IP Day)

    Prizes and Awards

    Participants stand a chance to win valuable digital equipment and learning opportunities:

    • First Prize: Digital equipment worth up to CHF 3,000
    • Second Prize: Digital equipment worth up to CHF 2,000
    • Third Prize: Digital equipment worth up to CHF 1,000
    • People’s Choice Prize: Digital equipment worth up to CHF 500
    • Top 20 finalists: Access to specialised training opportunities through the WIPO Academy

    Selection and Voting Process

    • Entries will be reviewed by an official jury based on creativity, relevance to the theme, and clarity of message
    • A public online voting process will determine the People’s Choice Prize
    • Winners will be officially announced on World IP Day – 24 April 2026
