The Club of Rome Communications Fellowship 2026 is a fully remote, seven-month mentoring and professional development programme designed for early-career communications professionals from underrepresented regions. The fellowship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of sustainability, systems thinking, and global communication, while contributing to the work of one of the world’s most respected thought-leadership organisations.
The Club of Rome Communications Fellowship 2026 is ideal for young professionals passionate about translating complex sustainability and systems ideas into clear, engaging stories for global audiences.
About the Fellowship
The fellowship is hosted by the Club of Rome, an international organisation known for its work on sustainability, planetary boundaries, and long-term global challenges. The programme focuses on strengthening inclusive global narratives by supporting communicators from regions often underrepresented in international sustainability discourse, referred to as the “Most of the World”.
The fellowship runs for approximately seven months, combining hands-on work experience with mentorship from an international communications team.
Fellowship Duration and Work Arrangement
- Start Date: 1 July 2026
- End Date: 31 January 2027
- Duration: Approximately 7 months
- Work Mode: Fully remote
- Working Time: 36 hours per week
- Leave Entitlement: 10 days of paid leave during the fellowship period
In addition to remote work, fellows will have the opportunity to participate in one funded in-person trip to meet and collaborate with the Club of Rome communications team.

Who Can Apply
The fellowship is open only to applicants who are residents of the following regions:
- Africa
- Latin America and the Caribbean
- Middle East
- Asia-Pacific
Applicants should also meet the following criteria:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in science, journalism, communications, or a related field, or be current students or graduates of a science journalism programme
- Have experience communicating systems thinking, sustainability, or science-related topics to general audiences through:
- Blogs
- Newspapers or magazines
- University or organisational websites
OR - Multimedia content such as videos, podcasts, photography, or social media storytelling
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Show interest or experience in digital communications, including:
- Social media management
- Multimedia storytelling
- Photography or video content creation
- Have a strong interest in global sustainability issues and systems thinking
What the Fellowship Offers
Selected fellows will gain practical, hands-on experience in international communications, including:
- Writing and editing content for websites and digital platforms
- Supporting media outreach and press activities
- Covering and communicating global events and initiatives
- Creating multimedia and social media content
- Working closely with an international communications team on sustainability narratives
Fellows will receive:
- A modest stipend, adjusted based on location
- Professional mentorship and guidance
- International exposure through collaboration with a globally recognised organisation
Language and Application Requirements
- All applications must be submitted in English
- Applications must be complete and submitted before the deadline
- Late or incomplete applications will not be considered
- While applicants may use AI tools to support preparation, the selection committee emphasises the importance of authentic voice, originality, and personal communication style
