    ICN-WBG Competition Advocacy Contest 2026

    Deadline: January 23, 2026

The ICN-WBG Competition Advocacy Contest 2026 is now open for submissions! Organized by the International Competition Network (ICN) and the World Bank Group (WBG), this prestigious annual competition highlights outstanding success stories in competition advocacy—initiatives that promote open, fair, and competitive markets through innovative, non-enforcement activities.

The contest aims to recognize organizations that have effectively influenced public policy, raised awareness, or removed anticompetitive barriers, contributing to stronger economies and improved consumer welfare.

About the ICN-WBG Competition Advocacy Contest 2026

The ICN-WBG Competition Advocacy Contest 2026 seeks to showcase real-world examples of impactful advocacy that strengthen competition principles. Advocacy efforts can include policy dialogue, collaboration with stakeholders, reform initiatives, or public awareness campaigns.

Each year, the competition attracts entries from across the globe, providing a platform to celebrate and share best practices that demonstrate how advocacy can drive meaningful market reforms and boost competitiveness.

    Who Can Participate

    Eligible participants include:

    • Competition agencies
    • Sector regulators
    • Governmental bodies
    • Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) involved in competition policy or advocacy

Organizations that are not ICN members are encouraged to liaise with an ICN member in their jurisdiction before submitting an entry. Joint submissions between multiple organizations are also welcome and encouraged.

    Contest Themes

Participants are invited to submit stories under any of the following themes for the 2026 edition:

    1. Advancing competition advocacy during rapid global changes – Highlighting how advocacy supports competitive markets amid global shifts and uncertainty.
    2. Promoting a culture of compliance using innovative advocacy or digital tools – Demonstrating creative approaches to promote competition awareness and compliance.
    3. Embedding competition principles in green and digital transitions – Sharing how advocacy has integrated competition considerations in sustainability and digital initiatives.
    4. Balancing global convergence with local specificity in competition law and policy – Exploring how advocacy adapts international best practices to local contexts.

These themes reflect the growing importance of competition policy in fostering innovation, inclusion, and sustainable economic development.

    Selection Process and Benefits

Entries will be evaluated by an independent panel of experts based on:

    • Relevance and clarity of the advocacy story
    • Measurable results and real-world impact
    • Innovation and creativity of the advocacy strategy

Winners and honorable mentions will be announced ahead of the ICN Annual Conference 2026. Successful applicants may also be invited to present their stories at a joint ICN–World Bank Group event, offering valuable exposure and global recognition for their efforts.

    Application Details

    • Deadline for submission: January 23, 2026
    • Applications must be submitted through the official online platform provided by the organizers.

Interested organizations are encouraged to prepare detailed and evidence-based entries that clearly communicate the context, strategy, and results of their advocacy initiative.
