    The African Poetry Digital Humanities Grant 2026 is now open for applications.     About the African Poetry Digital Humanities Grant 2026

    The African Poetry Digital Humanities Grant 2026 provides funding for projects that use digital tools, technologies, or computational approaches to study, document, or interpret African poetry. The initiative encourages research that places African poetic traditions, voices, and archives at the heart of digital scholarship.

    It also promotes the use of the African Poetry Digital Portal, an extensive digital repository dedicated to African poets, their works, and related cultural and archival materials.

    Eligibility Criteria

    1. Project Proposal (up to 3 pages)

      • Description of technological tools or software to be used
      • Note: Grant funds cannot be used for the purchase of personal computers.
    2. Detailed Budget (1 page)
      • Clearly outline all expected project costs.
    3. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
      • Include relevant research experience, previous projects, and academic or professional achievements.

    Selection and Evaluation

    Applications will be evaluated based on:

    • Originality and relevance of the proposed project
    • Clear focus on African poetry within a digital humanities framework
    • Feasibility and potential impact of the project
    • Strength of the applicant’s background and research experience

    Successful applicants will receive funding to support their projects, along with opportunities to engage with the African Poetry Digital Portal community.
