About the Programme

Ambassadors work closely with the Children’s Commissioner for England and her team to amplify the voices of young people across the country, particularly those whose experiences are often under-represented. Programme Objectives

Role of an Ambassador
As an ambassador, participants will:

- Engage with policymakers and government officials, including meetings in Whitehall
- Represent the views and priorities of children and young people
- Take part in events, consultations, and stakeholder engagements
- Speak to local and national media on issues affecting children and young people
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Live in England
- Be 16 or 17 years old in April 2026
The programme encourages applications from young people of all backgrounds, particularly those who are passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people.
Programme Duration
The Children’s Commissioner Ambassador Programme runs for one year and is voluntary. Participants are expected to commit time to meetings, events, and ambassadorial activities throughout the programme period.
Application Requirements
Applicants are required to complete an online application form, which includes:
- Personal and background information
- Written responses explaining interests, motivations, and views on issues affecting children and young people
- Submission of a short video as part of the application process
The application typically takes 15–20 minutes to complete, excluding time spent preparing the video. Applicants are advised to save or print a copy of their responses after submission.
