    About the Mindanao Young Leaders Programme (MinYLP) 2026

    The Mindanao Young Leaders Programme (MinYLP) 2026 is a capacity-building and leadership development programme designed for dynamic young professionals dedicated to community service. The programme aims to empower leaders to build sustainable and inclusive communities through collaboration, innovation, and peace-driven initiatives.

    Participants will be equipped with practical leadership tools, cross-cultural understanding, and project development skills that will strengthen their roles in advancing peace and sustainability in Mindanao. The initiative also promotes meaningful engagement among young leaders across various ethnic and religious groups, helping to build bridges of trust and cooperation.

    • Collaboration with other emerging leaders from diverse backgrounds across Mindanao.
    • Immersive learning experiences in Mindanao and Aotearoa New Zealand, providing participants with exposure to global perspectives on leadership and community resilience.
    • Development and implementation of a Participatory Action Project Proposal that directly addresses a real community challenge.
    • Strengthened capacity to drive inclusive, community-based change in their organizations and local areas.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must meet the following requirements to qualify for the Mindanao Young Leaders Programme (MinYLP) 2026:

    • Be 23 to 30 years old at the time of application.
    • Currently live and work in Mindanao, Philippines.
    • Be actively engaged with a community-based organization, NGO, or civil society group, such as women’s groups, Indigenous organizations, or environmental movements.
    • Commit to continue working with their organization for at least one year after completing the programme.
    • Have proficiency in English (equivalent to IELTS 5.5 / TOEFL 46–59; testing will occur during the interview phase).
    • Be available for a two-week full-time residential programme component.
    • Obtain organizational support to participate in the full duration of the programme (including up to 12 weeks of leave).
    • Not be enrolled in another full-time academic or training programme during the Sustainable Development Course (SDC).
    • Hold or be able to obtain a valid Philippine passport (with at least six months’ validity beyond the return date).

    Selection Criteria

    Applicants will be assessed based on the following key criteria:

    • Demonstrated leadership potential and commitment to personal and community growth.
    • Proven involvement and dedication to community development work.
    • Ability and willingness to collaborate across diverse ethnic, cultural, and religious groups.
    • Evidence of organizational support for participation.
    • A clear and feasible development challenge proposal that aligns with programme objectives.
    • Contribution to a balanced participant mix, ensuring diversity in gender, ethnicity, and regional representation.
    • Fulfillment of all visa and participation requirements.
