About the LSHTM Research Fellowship 2026
This fellowship supports a Research Fellow position within the Department of Population Health (DPH) at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. The role is part of the Hararghe Health Research Partnership, a collaborative initiative between Haramaya University (Ethiopia) and LSHTM.
The research programme focuses on understanding perinatal mortality and its associated risk factors in eastern Hararghe, Ethiopia. The successful candidate will play a key analytical role, contributing to evidence generation aimed at improving maternal and newborn health outcomes.

Salary and Benefits

- Salary Scale: LSHTM Grade 6
- Annual Salary: £45,728 – £51,872 per annum (pro rata, inclusive of London weighting)

Key Responsibilities
The Research Fellow will:
- Lead and support quantitative analysis of perinatal mortality data

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants for the LSHTM Research Fellowship 2026 must meet the following requirements:
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- A postgraduate degree in demography, epidemiology, population health, or a closely related discipline
- Strong quantitative research and data analysis skills
- Experience working with health and demographic surveillance data
- Proficiency in R, Stata, or similar statistical software
Desirable Experience
- Prior research experience in Ethiopia or similar low‑ and middle‑income country settings
- Experience working on maternal, newborn, or perinatal health research projects
