    The Johns Hopkins University Gender Equity/GBV Evidence Accelerator Fellowship 2026 is a prestigious, fully funded, year‑long fellowship designed to strengthen evidence generation, analysis, synthesis, and translation to advance gender equity and address gender‑based violence (GBV), particularly in low‑ and middle‑income countries (LMICs).

    The Johns Hopkins University Gender Equity/GBV Evidence Accelerator Fellowship 2026 brings together a global cohort of professionals, researchers, and practitioners committed to using high‑quality evidence to influence policy, programming, and practice in gender equity and GBV prevention and response.


    Fellowship Overview

    This is a part‑time, year‑long fellowship hosted by the Center for Global Women’s Health and Gender Equity (CGWHGE) at Johns Hopkins University. The fellowship focuses on building practical, applied skills in evidence‑based research and translation for real‑world impact in gender equity and GBV.

    The programme combines structured learning, faculty mentorship, cohort engagement, and a hands‑on mini‑project, allowing fellows to strengthen both technical and applied competencies.


    Programme Focus Areas

    The fellowship emphasises:

    • Evidence generation and applied research in gender equity and GBV
    • Data analysis, synthesis, and interpretation
    • Translating research into policy and programme action
    • Strengthening GBV prevention and response strategies in LMIC contexts

    Who Should Apply

    This fellowship is ideal for:

    • Professionals and practitioners working on gender equity or GBV programmes
    • Researchers with experience in gender, public health, or social sciences
    • PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, or junior faculty focusing on gender or GBV
    • Individuals with prior exposure to research, monitoring, evaluation, or data analysis

    Note: Current master’s degree students are not eligible to apply.


    Fellowship Structure and Components

    1. Mentorship

    Fellows receive ongoing mentorship and guidance from experienced Johns Hopkins University faculty, supporting both professional growth and project implementation.

    2. Academic Coursework

    Participants enrol in selected courses offered through the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, strengthening theoretical and methodological foundations.

    3. Cohort‑Based Learning

    The fellowship is cohort‑driven, encouraging peer learning, collaboration, and global networking among fellows working across diverse contexts.

    4. Mini‑Project

    Each fellow completes a mentored mini‑project, which may include:

    • Secondary data analysis
    • Evidence synthesis
    • Applied research or analytical work related to gender equity or GBV

    5. Virtual and In‑Person Engagement

    Most fellowship activities are conducted virtually, with at least one fully funded in‑person convening during the fellowship year.


    Time Commitment

    • Average of 10 hours per week throughout the year
    • Up to 20 hours per week during intensive academic course periods
    • Additional time allocated for fellowship‑related travel when applicable

    Funding and Financial Coverage

    The fellowship is fully funded, covering:

    • Course registration and academic fees
    • Travel and accommodation costs related to the in‑person convening
    • Faculty mentorship and programme support

    Important: The fellowship does not provide a stipend or salary. Applicants who are currently employed are encouraged to discuss participation and time commitment with their employer prior to applying.


    Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must:

    • Be from and currently living or working in a low‑ or middle‑income country (LMIC)
    • Have professional or research experience in gender equity and/or GBV
    • Demonstrate prior exposure to research or data‑related work
    • Possess professional proficiency in written and spoken English

    Experience with statistical or analytical tools (such as STATA or R) is an added advantage but not mandatory.

    • Programme Duration: 2026–2027 academic year
