    The SEF Research Fellows Program 2026 offers an outstanding opportunity for early- to mid-career scholars committed to advancing education justice and improving educational outcomes across the U.S. South. Designed and administered by the Southern Education Foundation (SEF), the fellowship supports applied research that informs policy, strengthens educational practice, and drives positive systemic change. The SEF Research Fellows Program 2026 stands out as one of the leading initiatives supporting innovative, equity-focused education research.


    About the SEF Research Fellows Program 2026

    The fellowship is centred on supporting scholars who demonstrate a strong commitment to enhancing education opportunity, equity, and justice. Fellows conduct applied research in collaboration with SEF’s staff, partners, and networks. The programme aims to generate practical, evidence-based insights that can shape education policy and practice throughout the Southern region of the United States.

    Who Can Apply?

    The programme welcomes applications from a broad range of researchers and professionals, particularly those with experience in education and related fields. Suitable applicants include:

    • Doctoral candidates (ABD)
    • Postdoctoral researchers
    • Early- to mid-career researchers in academia, nonprofits, or policy institutions
