UNDP Nigeria Call for Digital Solutions to End Digital Violence Against All Women

    Deadline: December 12, 2025

The UNDP Nigeria Call for Digital Solutions to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls is an open invitation for innovators, startups, and organizations across Nigeria to design and showcase innovative technology-driven solutions that address digital violence against women and girls.

This initiative aligns with the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, emphasizing the urgent need to combat online harassment, abuse, and threats that limit women’s participation in digital spaces. Through this call, UNDP Nigeria aims to identify, support, and amplify impactful digital projects that make the internet safer and more inclusive for all women and girls.

    Objective of the Call

The main goal of this call is to identify, validate, and amplify existing or emerging tech-enabled projects that are tackling issues of digital violence in Nigeria. These projects should demonstrate innovative use of digital tools, platforms, or systems that protect, empower, or support women and girls online.

    Who Can Apply

    This opportunity is open to:

    • Nigerian startups, social innovators, innovation labs, and tech hubs using technology to address gender-based or digital violence.
    • Youth-led or women-led teams working on projects that promote digital safety and inclusion for women and girls.
    • Organizations or individuals with scalable, sustainable, and impact-driven digital initiatives that create safer online environments.

UNDP encourages diverse participation from across the country, particularly from innovators already developing practical digital solutions that directly or indirectly reduce online abuse, harassment, or discrimination.

    Benefits for Selected Participants

Successful applicants and finalists of the UNDP Nigeria Call for Digital Solutions to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls will gain several valuable benefits, including:

    • Showcasing Opportunities: Selected solutions will be highlighted across UNDP Nigeria’s official platforms and partner channels during the 16 Days of Activism campaign period.
    • Visibility and Documentation: The top six (6) finalists will have their projects featured at the UNDP Innovation Center in Lagos, where their solutions will be documented, analyzed, and shared as innovative models.
    • Networking and Advocacy Platforms: Finalists will be invited to present their work during a multi-stakeholder dialogue involving government agencies, regulatory bodies, private sector representatives, digital rights organizations, and women’s groups.
    • Partnership and Growth Opportunities: By engaging with UNDP and its partners, participants can access new collaboration opportunities, funding linkages, and capacity support for scaling their impact.

    Application Deadline

The deadline to apply for the UNDP Nigeria Call for Digital Solutions to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls is Friday, 12 December 2025.

Applicants are encouraged to submit their proposals early to ensure timely review and consideration.

    Why This Call Matters

Digital violence — including cyberbullying, online harassment, image-based abuse, hate speech, stalking, and non-consensual sharing of personal data — remains a growing threat to the safety and participation of women and girls online.

In Nigeria, the rapid increase in social media use and digital engagement has created both opportunities and challenges. While digital platforms provide visibility and voice, they also expose women and girls to unprecedented risks.

The UNDP Nigeria initiative aims to:

    • Promote the development of gender-responsive digital tools and awareness campaigns.
    • Encourage safer online communities through innovation and advocacy.
    • Support the creation of digital safety systems and reporting mechanisms that protect women and girls.

By empowering local innovators to build meaningful technology solutions, this program contributes directly to a safer, more equitable digital future.

    Broader Context

This call forms part of the global 2025 theme of the UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls campaign, emphasizing that gender-based violence is not limited to physical spaces.

Across Nigeria and beyond, organizations are intensifying efforts to promote digital literacy, safe online practices, community awareness, and stronger reporting and response frameworks for victims of digital abuse. This UNDP initiative complements those efforts by recognizing and supporting local innovations already making a difference in this field.
