    Malawi Youth Sounding Board 2025–2027

    Deadline: December 28, 2025

The Malawi Youth Sounding Board 2025–2027 is now accepting applications from young Malawians who are passionate about shaping youth-focused development initiatives in the country. This opportunity offers a unique platform for young people to contribute to more inclusive, effective and youth-responsive EU cooperation in Malawi. The Malawi Youth Sounding Board 2025–2027 will bring together motivated individuals ready to provide insight, feedback and leadership in supporting programmes that impact young people nationwide.

About the Malawi Youth Sounding Board 2025–2027

The Malawi Youth Sounding Board (MW-YSB) is an advisory body established by the European Union Delegation to Malawi to enhance youth participation in EU cooperation policies and programmes. It offers young Malawians a space to share ideas, perspectives and feedback on EU-supported initiatives, ensuring these efforts remain relevant, inclusive and effective.

The Board promotes active collaboration between the EU, civil society organisations and other stakeholders by presenting youth priorities and bridging the gap between development actors and young communities. Members also support the dissemination of information on opportunities such as jobs, training and educational programmes, particularly for vulnerable or underserved groups.

    Mandate and Key Responsibilities

Members of the MW-YSB will engage in a wide range of activities over their two-year mandate, including:

    • Providing youth perspectives and priorities in EU-related dialogues, programmes and collaborations.
    • Supporting the roll-out of youth-focused programmes, especially in areas like employment, entrepreneurship and Technical, Entrepreneurial, Vocational Education and Training (TEVET).
    • Collecting and presenting feedback from young people regarding EU-supported actions to help improve responsiveness and impact.
    • Disseminating information about available opportunities and linking youth with local organisations.
    • Building partnerships with other youth advisory structures on national, regional and global levels.
    • Participating in capacity-building trainings, field visits and EU-organised events.
    • Attending at least four full MW-YSB meetings per year.
    • Preparing periodic reports to ensure transparency and follow-up on activities.

    Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Malawi Youth Sounding Board 2025–2027, applicants must:

    • Be a Malawian citizen and currently resident in Malawi.
    • Be between 18 and 30 years old.
    • Demonstrate creativity, motivation and a commitment to contributing positively to the Board’s objectives.
    • Have a strong interest in development cooperation—particularly in youth-related areas such as education, TEVET, employment and entrepreneurship.
    • Possess good spoken and written English skills.

The selection process aims for diversity, ensuring representation from various genders, geographic areas (including rural communities) and persons with disabilities.

    Benefits of Participation

    Selected members will:

    • Serve a 24-month term (2026–2027).
    • Gain exposure to EU development cooperation processes.
    • Participate in training workshops, field visits and key youth-related events.
    • Contribute directly to youth-led policymaking and programme implementation.
    • Join a national network of young leaders influencing development decisions.
    • Build partnerships with similar youth-advisory structures across the region and beyond.

    Selection Process

The selection follows a two-stage procedure:

    1. Shortlisting of eligible candidates.
    2. Interviews conducted with shortlisted applicants.

    Important indicative dates:

    • Shortlisting notification: Around 9 January 2026
