    About the University of Oxford Accelerator Fellowship Programme 2025/2026

    The programme is hosted by the Institute for Ethics in AI at the University of Oxford and aims to support projects that explore the ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence. It encourages fellows to undertake interdisciplinary research, engage with policy and public discourse, and develop projects that deliver tangible societal impact. The fellowship is supported by the Stephen A. Schwarzman Foundation and forms part of a five-year initiative to advance ethical AI globally.

    Eligibility

    Applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Open to academics and professionals from any discipline.
    • Must be professionally established, whether in academia, industry, or non-profit research organisations.
    • Possess a Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience (typically 5+ years).
    • Project proposals must align with one or more thematic areas:
      1. AI & Creativity
      2. AI in Care, Mental Health & Healthcare
      3. AI & Humanity
      4. AI, Law & Policy
    • Proficiency in English is required.

    Benefits and Funding

    Fellows will receive:

    • A monthly stipend of £2,000, covering accommodation, travel, food, and living expenses.
    • Additional funding for project-related activities such as workshops, seminars, and public events (subject to approval).
    • Access to Oxford’s intellectual community and networking opportunities across academia, industry, and policy.
    • Increased visibility through seminars, public talks, and collaborative events.
    • Flexibility to integrate the fellowship with existing professional commitments.

    Note: This fellowship is not salaried employment at Oxford.

    2. Motivation Letter: Explain why you are applying and how your expertise aligns with the programme’s mission.
    3. Curriculum Vitae (2 pages): Include relevant experience and achievements.
    4. Copy of Current Passport: Required for identification and visa considerations.

    Timeline and Key Dates

    • Application Deadline: 10 January 2026
    • Fellowship Start Date: February 2026
    • Duration: 6 or 12 months, with flexible in-person or remote participation.
