Varkey Foundation Global Schools Prize 2025

    Deadline: November 30, 2025

The Varkey Foundation Global Schools Prize 2025 is a newly launched international award designed to honor exceptional schools across the world that are reimagining what’s possible in education. With a total prize pool of US $1 million, the initiative recognizes institutions that demonstrate innovative approaches, inclusivity, and excellence in teaching and learning.

The Varkey Foundation Global Schools Prize 2025 aims to spotlight schools that inspire educational transformation through creativity, leadership, and commitment to global citizenship — setting new benchmarks for what schools can achieve in shaping the future of education.

    About the Prize

The Global Schools Prize celebrates schools that have gone above and beyond to redefine learning experiences and outcomes. It acknowledges schools that are making significant contributions to their communities, fostering student growth, and promoting global awareness.

The total prize fund of US $1 million will be distributed across ten award categories. Each category winner will receive US $50,000, and one exceptional school will be chosen as the overall winner of the US $500,000 grand prize.

This structure ensures that multiple schools from different regions and focus areas gain recognition and financial support to expand their innovative initiatives.

    Eligibility

The competition is open to all schools worldwide, including both government-run and privately funded institutions, provided they teach students up to the age of 18.

Eligible schools may apply in multiple categories, showcasing their strengths across different dimensions of education. Schools are encouraged to highlight how they are making tangible impacts within their communities and inspiring systemic change through their educational practices.

    Award Categories

Schools can apply under one or more of the following ten thematic categories:

    1. AI Transformation – Recognizing schools that have embraced artificial intelligence to enhance teaching, learning, and administration.
    2. Art and Culture – Celebrating schools that integrate creativity, arts, and cultural appreciation into education.
    3. Character and Values – Honoring schools that nurture integrity, empathy, and leadership in students.
    4. Global Citizenship – For institutions promoting awareness of global issues and preparing students to be responsible world citizens.
    5. Health and Well-being – Rewarding schools prioritizing physical and mental health in their communities.
    6. Overcoming Adversity – Recognizing schools that have shown remarkable resilience in the face of challenges.
    7. Inclusive Education – Celebrating schools that ensure access and equality for students of all backgrounds and abilities.
    8. STEM Education – Honoring excellence in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics instruction.
    9. Sustainability – Highlighting schools committed to environmental stewardship and sustainable development.
    10. Teacher Development – Recognizing schools that invest in the continuous growth and empowerment of their educators.
