    Women in Film Entrepreneurship Hub 2025

    The Women in Film Entrepreneurship Hub 2025 is an exciting initiative designed to empower women entrepreneurs in Kenya’s growing film industry. The programme offers a two-week intensive residency aimed at nurturing innovative women-led ventures within the film value chain. Through this initiative, participants will gain practical business skills, mentorship, and access to funding that supports creativity, collaboration, and sustainable impact.


    About the Women in Film Entrepreneurship Hub 2025

    The Women in Film Entrepreneurship Hub 2025 is part of the Kenya Film Commission’s (KFC) Film Empowerment Programme Cycle 4. It is implemented in partnership with the German development agency GIZ, under the Kenya–Germany collaboration titled “Strengthening the Film Industry in Kenya.”

    This residency seeks to foster entrepreneurial growth by providing women in the film ecosystem with tailored business training, expert mentorship, and opportunities to scale their enterprises. From the cohort of selected participants, five outstanding women will receive seed funding and continued mentorship through March 2026.


    Eligibility Criteria

    The programme is open to women entrepreneurs in Kenya who are engaged in, or interested in, any aspect of the film value chain. Eligible sectors include:

    • Film and TV Production
    • Sound Design
    • Makeup and Styling
    • Post-Production
    • Set Design
    • Photography and Design
    • Talent Management
    • Logistics in Film
    • Equipment Rentals
    • Content Distribution

    Applicants may be founders of startups, owners of small businesses, or leaders of registered companies. The key requirement is that their work should contribute to storytelling, collaboration, and impact within the film industry.


    Benefits of the Programme

    Selected participants will benefit from a holistic residency experience that blends practical training and industry mentorship. Key highlights include:

    • A two-week intensive residency designed to develop entrepreneurial and creative skills.
    • Selection of 10 women participants for the 2025 cohort.
    • Five outstanding participants will each receive up to EUR 5,000 in seed funding to strengthen their business ventures.
    • Continued mentorship and support from industry experts through to March 2026.
    • Opportunities to build partnerships and networks within the Kenyan and international film industry.

    Programme Objectives

    The initiative aims to:

    • Strengthen the capacity of women entrepreneurs across the film ecosystem.
    • Encourage collaboration, innovation, and gender inclusion in the film value chain.
    • Contribute to the professionalisation and sustainability of Kenya’s creative economy.
