    IJP German-British Programme 2026-2027

    Deadline: June 15, 2026

The IJP German-British Programme 2026-2027 offers an exciting opportunity for British and German journalists to work in each other’s countries and gain valuable professional experience in international reporting. Established in 1995, the programme strengthens mutual understanding between the United Kingdom and Germany by fostering exchange and collaboration among media professionals.

About the IJP German-British Programme 2026-2027

The German-British Programme of IJP (International Journalists’ Programmes) is designed to enable journalists from both countries to spend time working in an editorial office in the host nation. Participants report for their home media while gaining first-hand insights into the political, economic, cultural, and social life of the host country.

Since its establishment, the programme has provided a platform for young journalists to build international networks and enhance their cross-cultural reporting skills. Each year, selected fellows from Germany and the UK take part in this exchange, contributing to greater media cooperation and understanding between the two nations.

    Fellowship Details

Successful applicants of the IJP German-British Programme 2026-2027 will receive a one-time fellowship payment of €3,800. This stipend is intended to cover travel expenses, accommodation, and general living costs throughout the fellowship period.

The fellowship placement allows journalists to work in a host media organization abroad, deepening their professional experience while producing stories for their own home outlets.

    Application Deadline: June 15, 2026

    Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the IJP German-British Programme 2026-2027, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Must be British or German citizens.
    • Aged between 18 and 40 years.
    • Must be currently employed as editors, trainees, or regular freelance journalists for print, broadcast, or online media.
    • British applicants with little or no knowledge of the German language are strongly encouraged to apply.

This inclusive approach ensures that both experienced and emerging journalists can benefit from the fellowship, regardless of their language proficiency level.

Applicants are expected to submit the following documents when applying for the fellowship:

    • Curriculum Vitae (CV): A concise overview of professional background and experience.

    • Four Samples of Publications: For TV or radio journalists, a list of contributions may be submitted instead of clips.
    • Preferences: Applicants should indicate preferred host organizations and/or regions within the host country.

All application materials must be combined into one PDF document and submitted electronically via the email address provided by the programme organizers.

    Selection Process

The selection committee evaluates applications based on professional experience, motivation, and potential to contribute to the programme’s goals. Shortlisted candidates will be matched with appropriate host media organizations in the respective countries.
