EU Circular Economy Resource Centre 2026 Circular Business Awards

    Deadline: Un

The EU Circular Economy Resource Centre 2026 Circular Business Awards is now open for applications. This prestigious award recognises and supports micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) that are driving innovation through sustainable, circular economy practices. With a funding prize of up to €10,000, the awards highlight businesses that are pioneering in resource efficiency, reuse, waste reduction, and sustainable product design.

About the EU Circular Economy Resource Centre 2026 Circular Business Awards

The EU Circular Economy Resource Centre 2026 Circular Business Awards aims to reward MSMEs implementing circular economy models that extend product lifecycles, promote material recovery, and foster sustainable business innovation.

The programme seeks to identify and elevate enterprises that are transforming traditional business models into environmentally responsible and economically viable ones. Winners will gain not only financial support but also international recognition and access to global circular economy networks.

    Award Categories

For the 2026 edition, there are two specialised award tracks:

    1. Young Woman Entrepreneur Award – This category celebrates a woman-led circular economy enterprise demonstrating exceptional leadership and impact in sustainability.
    2. Sectoral Award – Electronics & ICT – This track targets MSMEs within the electronics and ICT sector that integrate circular business models such as device refurbishment, component recycling, or e-waste recovery.

    Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the EU Circular Economy Resource Centre 2026 Circular Business Awards, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Be a registered MSME actively implementing or transitioning toward circular economy principles.
    • Have a measurable circular impact, such as resource reuse, waste reduction, or improved efficiency in material usage.
    • Operate within one of the eligible partner countries, including several across Africa.
    • Present a functional business model or pilot that showcases innovative and sustainable operations.

    Benefits and Award Details

Winners of the EU Circular Economy Resource Centre 2026 Circular Business Awards will receive:

    • Funding support of up to €10,000 to scale their circular initiatives.
    • Invitation to the World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF), offering global exposure and networking with industry leaders.
    • Tailored business coaching to strengthen sustainability strategies and improve market positioning.
    • Visibility among international networks of circular economy experts, policymakers, and investors.
    • Peer-learning opportunities and participation in knowledge exchange platforms.

    Application Process and Key Tips

Applicants are encouraged to present their business impact using quantifiable metrics, such as material reuse rates, waste reduction percentages, or lifecycle extension outcomes.

For those applying under specific award tracks, such as the Young Woman Entrepreneur Award or the Electronics & ICT Award, ensure clear alignment with the chosen category and demonstrate tangible results.

Judges will assess both innovation and scalability, focusing on businesses that show potential for growth while maintaining sustainable practices. Supporting documents—such as company registration certificates, financial statements, and visual materials—should be well prepared.

Even if an enterprise is not selected as a winner, participation in the awards process provides valuable exposure, expert feedback, and partnership opportunities within the global circular economy ecosystem.

    Timeline and Deadlines

The call for applications officially opened on 3 November 2025. Specific deadlines may vary depending on the regional track, so applicants are encouraged to check the programme page for the exact submission timeline relevant to their country or category.

    How to Apply

Interested MSMEs can apply online through the official submission portal. Ensure all sections of the application form are completed accurately and all required documentation is attached.

Applicants are also advised to review the programme guidelines thoroughly before submission to confirm their eligibility and understand the evaluation criteria.

    Selection Process

The selection committee will evaluate entries based on:

    • Circular economy innovation and creativity.
    • Business sustainability and long-term viability.
    • Impact on local communities and the environment.
    • Replicability and potential for scale.

Shortlisted candidates may be invited to present additional documentation or attend virtual interviews before final selections are made.

    Additional Information

Successful applicants will be notified via email and invited to the award ceremony to be held during the World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) in 2026.

This initiative, supported by the EU Circular Economy Resource Centre, reinforces Europe’s and partner regions’ commitment to promoting sustainable innovation and supporting circular entrepreneurship worldwide.
