Are you a young Canadian passionate about Artificial Intelligence (AI), public policy, and civic engagement? The Gen(Z)AI Program 2025 offers an incredible opportunity for youth aged 17–23 across Canada to come together and shape the future of AI governance and democracy.
Organized by MediaTech Democracy, this six-month hybrid program brings together 100 diverse young Canadians to participate in meaningful conversations, learning sessions, and policy discussions focused on Artificial Intelligence and its impact on Canadian society.
About the Gen(Z)AI Program 2025
The Gen(Z)AI Program 2025 is designed to equip young people with the knowledge, confidence, and connections they need to actively engage in Canada’s evolving AI landscape. Over the course of six months, participants will explore how technology and democracy intersect — and how youth can help shape AI’s responsible use nationwide.
The program features regional forums, national learning sessions, and a final deliberative plenary session in Ottawa, Canada.
Program Structure
Virtual Orientation
All selected participants will begin with a two-hour virtual orientation session to introduce the program, expectations, and upcoming activities.
Regional 3-Day Forums
The 100 participants will be grouped into four regional hubs: Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and Halifax.
Each regional forum runs over three days:
- Day 1 (Virtual): A four-hour online expert session attended by all 100 participants.
- Day 2 (In-Person / Optional): 25 regional participants will gather in person, while others may opt out of the physical attendance.
- Day 3 (Hybrid): Combines the 25 in-person attendees with the remaining 75 virtual participants for interactive dialogue and reflection.
Final Plenary in Ottawa
The program culminates in a Final Plenary Session in Ottawa, where participants will present their insights and recommendations to policymakers, researchers, and public officials. Attendance may be virtual or in person.
