Global LEAP Awards Solar Generators Competition 2025

    Deadline: October 29, 2025

Are you developing innovative solar-powered solutions that could revolutionise energy access? The Global LEAP Awards Solar Generators Competition 2025 is now open for applications, offering innovators the chance to showcase their technologies, gain international recognition, and compete for a total prize pool of US$100,000.

This competition identifies and promotes top-performing solar-powered generators that provide high-quality, zero-emission power for households and small businesses in energy-constrained regions.

About the Global LEAP Awards Solar Generators Competition 2025

The Global LEAP Awards Solar Generators Competition 2025 aims to spotlight the most efficient, reliable, and user-friendly solar generators available on the market. The competition is designed to encourage innovation in clean, off-grid energy solutions that deliver dependable power to underserved communities.

Participants’ products will undergo both laboratory testing and real-world evaluations to measure performance, usability, and customer satisfaction. Testing will be conducted in partnership with VeraSol using internationally recognised ISO-accredited methods.

    Competition Focus

The competition seeks solar generator products capable of powering multiple appliances typically used by households or small businesses. Products designed solely for single-purpose use (e.g., e-bikes) will not be considered.

    Key focus areas include:

    • Energy efficiency and reliability
    • Safety and user-friendliness
    • Real-world usability and durability
    • Zero-emission operation
    • Technical innovation and market readiness

    Eligibility Criteria

To participate, applicants must ensure their solar generator systems meet the following criteria:

    • Must include a user manual and a consumer warranty policy.
    • Must be deployable for field evaluation in Nigeria by 15 January 2026.

    Technical Requirements

The competition sets specific technical parameters to ensure compatibility and standardisation across entries:

    • PV input: Mandatory
    • AC input: Optional
    • AC output: Mandatory
    • DC output: Optional
    • System voltage: 220–240 V, 50 Hz (120 V/60 Hz may be accepted for qualifying markets)
    • System type: Must not be grid-interactive (cannot feed power back into the grid)

    Component size limits:

    • Battery capacity: up to 1000 Ah
    • Inverter output: up to 113 kW
    • PV array input: up to 50 kW

    Prizes and Benefits

Winners of the Global LEAP Awards Solar Generators Competition 2025 will share a total prize pool of US$100,000. Beyond the financial reward, winners gain:

    • Global visibility and recognition in the clean energy sector.
    • Validation from international testing and evaluation partners.
    • Opportunities for investment, partnerships, and scale-up.
