    Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) 3.0 2025

    Deadline: November 5, 2025

The Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) 3.0 2025 is a major initiative by the Foundation for Black Communities (FFBC) that aims to empower Black-led, Black-serving, and Black-mandated organisations across Canada. With a total investment of US $8 million, this programme seeks to support projects that address key challenges facing Black communities while promoting sustainable growth and systemic transformation.

Through the Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) 3.0 2025, eligible organisations can access flexible, one-year funding designed to strengthen operational capacity, fund new initiatives, and create equitable opportunities within Black communities.

This year’s edition builds on the success of previous rounds, expanding opportunities for community-driven organisations that are committed to social justice, equity, and inclusive development.

    Objectives of the Grant

The Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) 3.0 2025 aims to:

    • Support Black-mandated, Black-led, and Black-serving (B3) organisations in advancing equity and social inclusion.
    • Provide financial flexibility for operational stability and programme expansion.
    • Promote innovative solutions to long-standing issues affecting Black communities.
    • Strengthen leadership capacity and institutional growth for Black organisations across Canada.

    Key Focus Areas

Projects funded under the Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) 3.0 2025 must align with one or more of the following thematic priorities:

    1. Combating Anti-Black Racism:
Initiatives that challenge systemic discrimination, promote racial equity, and advance justice for Black communities.
    2. Improving Social Outcomes:
Projects that enhance education, housing, mental health, safety, and overall community wellbeing.
    3. Improving Economic Outcomes:
Efforts that support entrepreneurship, workforce development, and economic empowerment for Black Canadians.

Additionally, applicants are encouraged to design projects that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Social Determinants of Health (SDH) to ensure holistic and measurable impact.

    Funding Streams and Grant Amounts

The Foundation for Black Communities provides three distinct funding streams to cater to different organisational needs and project scales:

    Funding StreamMaximum AmountPurpose / Description
Core StreamUp to US $30,000Supports operational or core expenses not tied directly to programming, such as staffing or administration.
