Projects funded under the Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) 3.0 2025 must align with one or more of the following thematic priorities:
- Combating Anti-Black Racism:
Initiatives that challenge systemic discrimination, promote racial equity, and advance justice for Black communities. - Improving Social Outcomes:
Projects that enhance education, housing, mental health, safety, and overall community wellbeing. - Improving Economic Outcomes:
Efforts that support entrepreneurship, workforce development, and economic empowerment for Black Canadians.
Additionally, applicants are encouraged to design projects that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Social Determinants of Health (SDH) to ensure holistic and measurable impact.
Funding Streams and Grant Amounts
The Foundation for Black Communities provides three distinct funding streams to cater to different organisational needs and project scales:

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) 3.0 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a Black-mandated, Black-led, and Black-serving (B3) organisation.
- Must be legally registered and operating within Canada.
- The project or initiative must address at least one of the key focus areas (anti-Black racism, social outcomes, or economic outcomes).
- All funded projects must be completed by March 31, 2027.
- Organisations should demonstrate the capacity to manage and report on grant funds effectively.
The programme emphasises inclusivity and community impact, supporting both emerging and established organisations that drive change in Canada’s Black communities.
