    British Embassy Paris Internship 2025-2026

    Deadline: October 5, 2025

Are you passionate about diplomacy, international relations, politics or communications? The British Embassy Paris Internship 2025-2026 is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in one of the world’s most dynamic diplomatic missions. This four-month internship offers aspiring professionals a chance to contribute to UK–France bilateral relations while developing critical skills in a real-world international environment.

Overview of the British Embassy Paris Internship 2025-2026

The British Embassy Paris Internship 2025-2026 is a 4-month fixed-term internship based in Paris, France. Successful applicants will work full-time (35 hours per week) and receive a monthly stipend of €1,000 gross, plus a contribution towards meals.

This is a highly competitive internship designed to offer students and young professionals valuable insights into diplomacy, economics, communications, and foreign policy.

    Application Deadline

The deadline to apply for the internship is 5 October 2025. Early applications are strongly encouraged due to the competitive nature of the programme.

    Available Internship Teams

The Embassy is recruiting three interns, one for each of the following sections:

    1. Economics & Political Section
Focuses on economic analysis, political reporting, and supporting the Embassy’s policy work.
    2. National Security & Foreign Policy
Involves research, reporting, and supporting security and foreign policy initiatives between the UK and France.
    3. Communications & Engagement
Works on media monitoring, public engagement, social media, and supporting outreach campaigns.

Applicants can indicate their preferred team when submitting their application.

    Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this internship, candidates must meet the following requirements:

    • Language Proficiency: Excellent French and English skills (minimum C1 level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
    • Academic Background: Currently enrolled in a university programme related to Political Science, International Relations, Economics, Business Administration, Communications, Journalism or other relevant fields.
    • Internship Agreement: Ability to provide a “Convention de stage” (internship agreement) from your university or higher education institution.
    • Interest in UK–France Relations: A demonstrated passion for diplomacy, politics, economics, and foreign policy.
    • Technical Skills: Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    • Research & Analytical Skills: Ability to carry out detailed research and analysis, take initiative, and maintain excellent attention to detail.
    • Soft Skills: Strong organisational skills, flexibility, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative team spirit.

    Key Responsibilities

As an intern, your role may vary depending on the team, but general responsibilities include:

    • Conducting analytical and research tasks relevant to team objectives.
    • Supporting communication, organisational and administrative activities within the Embassy.
    • Assisting in drafting reports, monitoring media, and contributing to Embassy events and outreach.
    • Working under the guidance of a manager and contributing to key Embassy projects.

Why Apply? – Benefits of the Internship

Participating in the British Embassy Paris Internship offers a unique set of benefits:

    1. Diplomatic Exposure

Gain first-hand experience working in a prestigious diplomatic environment, contributing to real policy discussions and activities.

    2. Professional Development

Develop strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills while working with experienced professionals.

    3. Networking Opportunities

Build valuable connections within the UK–France diplomatic network and the broader international affairs community.

    4. Cultural Experience

Live and work in Paris, one of Europe’s most vibrant cities, and immerse yourself in Franco-British relations.

    Important Considerations

While the internship is a fantastic opportunity, applicants should be aware of the following:

    • Cost of Living: Paris is an expensive city. Although the €1,000 monthly stipend plus meal contribution helps, careful budgeting is necessary.
    • Short Duration: The 4-month period means interns must adapt quickly and maximise their impact within a limited timeframe.
    • Internship Agreement: Having the required “convention de stage” is essential. If your university cannot provide this, you may not be eligible to apply.

    How to Apply

If this opportunity excites you, don’t wait until the last minute. Make sure you meet all eligibility requirements and prepare a strong application including your CV and a tailored cover letter that highlights your relevant skills and interests.
