    David Leuschen Global Energy Fellows 2026

    The David Leuschen Global Energy Fellows 2026 programme is now open for applications. Hosted by Columbia University’s Center on Global Energy Policy (CGEP), the fellowship is designed to nurture the next generation of leaders in energy and climate policy. By providing academic, professional, and networking opportunities, the programme equips graduate students with the skills and exposure needed to tackle the pressing challenges of the global energy system.


    About the Fellowship

    The David Leuschen Global Energy Fellows 2026 is a prestigious initiative of CGEP at Columbia University. The fellowship focuses on preparing full-time graduate students to engage deeply with issues around global energy systems, policy, and climate change. Fellows benefit from mentorship, research opportunities, and access to global thought leaders in the energy field.


    Benefits of the Fellowship

    Successful applicants to the David Leuschen Global Energy Fellows 2026 will receive:

    • Learning and Networking: Monthly luncheons and interactive learning sessions with leading experts, scholars, and practitioners in the energy sector.
    • Individual Mentorship: One-to-one pairing with senior CGEP Research Scholars or Global Fellows for personalised mentorship and guidance.
    • Work and Compensation: Fellows may work up to 10 hours per week as Student Research Workers, with financial compensation.
    • Career and Professional Development: Opportunities to have CVs and writing samples shared with corporate partners, and access to summer internship placements.
    • Exclusive Access: Participation in high-level events such as dinners, workshops, and networking sessions with energy leaders.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • Be a full-time graduate student at Columbia University during the fellowship. This includes PhD candidates.
    • Anticipated graduation must be May 2026 or later, ensuring fellows remain enrolled throughout the programme.
    • Applicants will be selected based on:
      • Academic and professional achievements
      • Demonstrated interest in global energy systems
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
      • Ranking and demonstrated interest in the programme

    • Deadline: September 30, 2025
    • Notification of Acceptance: October 2025
