    APHRC Pauline Bakibinga Memorial Scholarship 2025

    The APHRC Pauline Bakibinga Memorial Scholarship 2025 honours the life and work of Dr. Pauline Bakibinga, a distinguished researcher at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC). This scholarship supports female Master’s students from East Africa pursuing research in digital health innovations under public health programmes.

    It is designed to alleviate research-related costs, thereby empowering women to contribute to health research and technological innovations in the region.


    About the Scholarship

    • Funding Amount: Between USD $5,000 and $10,000 annually
    • Funding Period: 2024 – 2028
    • Coverage: Supports research project costs only (not tuition or living expenses)
    • Focus Area: Digital health research within public health Master’s programmes

    The scholarship encourages high-quality research projects and recognises women’s potential in advancing digital health solutions across East Africa.


    Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must meet all of the following conditions:

    1. Be a female student residing in East Africa.
    2. Hold a recognised undergraduate degree.
    3. Be admitted into a Master’s degree programme with a focus on public health.
    4. Undertake a research project on digital health innovations. Applicants should ideally have IRB (Institutional Review Board) approval or show proof of submission for IRB review.
    5. Applicants from Mbarara University of Science and Technology and those affiliated with the Busoga Health Forum are particularly encouraged to apply.

    Application Requirements

    Applicants are required to complete the following steps:

    Step 1: Complete the Online Survey

    Applicants must first fill out a short survey form (link here). This step is mandatory before submission of documents.

    Step 2: Submit Application Documents

    Send one compiled PDF file via email containing:

    • A motivation essay (maximum 500 words)
    • Two letters of recommendation (one must come from an academic supervisor)
    • Copies of academic certificates
    • Proof of admission into a relevant Master’s programme

    Scholarship Conditions

    • The award is non-binding – recipients are not obliged to work for APHRC or repay the grant.
    • Scholars are expected to maintain professional and ethical conduct throughout their studies.
