    The World Bank GFDRR Risk Data Fellows Program 2025 is now open for applications! This exciting fellowship opportunity offers early-career professionals from fragile and climate-vulnerable countries the chance to work directly with World Bank operations, supporting communities with access to disaster and climate risk data.

    If you are passionate about data science, geospatial analysis, and risk management, this fellowship provides a unique platform to apply your expertise while contributing to climate resilience and disaster preparedness in your home country.


    About the World Bank GFDRR Risk Data Fellows Program 2025

    The Risk Data Fellows Program is organised by the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) at the World Bank.

    It is designed to empower young professionals to access, generate, and communicate climate and disaster risk data in order to strengthen resilience in fragile and conflict-affected situations (FCV).

    Fellows will be embedded in World Bank projects and receive training, mentorship, and exposure to global best practices in data, climate resilience, and disaster risk reduction.


    Fellowship Details

    • Duration: 6 months (equivalent to 75 working days). Fellows may receive an extension for an additional 6 months based on performance and World Bank project needs.
    • Placement: Fellows will work with World Bank task teams to integrate climate and disaster risk data into ongoing projects.
    • Focus: Special emphasis on countries experiencing Fragile and Conflict-Affected Situations (FCV).

    Who Can Apply?

    The fellowship is open to nationals or residents of selected FCV countries. Applicants should be early-career professionals with strong skills in data science, geospatial analysis, climate risk modelling, or related fields.


    Eligible Countries

    Applicants must be from or residing in one of the following countries:

    • Africa: Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, São Tomé & Príncipe, Zimbabwe.
    • Middle East & Europe: Iraq, Kosovo, Lebanon, Syrian Arab Republic.
