    Gilman-McCain Scholarship October 2025

    The Gilman-McCain Scholarship October 2025 is now open for applications. This unique programme, established by the U.S. Department of State, provides financial support for dependents of active or activated U.S. military personnel to pursue study or internship opportunities abroad.

    With awards of up to US$5,000, the scholarship aims to make international education and internships more accessible, ensuring that military families benefit from global exposure and academic advancement.


    About the Gilman-McCain Scholarship

    The John S. McCain International Scholarship for Military Families (Gilman-McCain Scholarship) is designed specifically for undergraduate students who are the children or spouses of U.S. military personnel. The scholarship funds credit-bearing study abroad or international internship programmes in eligible countries.

    By supporting dependents of those who serve, the scholarship helps students expand their global perspectives, acquire valuable skills, and strengthen cross-cultural connections.


    Scholarship Benefits

    • Award Amount: Up to US$5,000.
    • Purpose: To support tuition, travel, housing, and other expenses related to study or internship abroad.
    • Eligible Programmes: Must be credit-bearing academic programmes or internships.

    Eligibility Criteria

    To qualify for the Gilman-McCain Scholarship October 2025, applicants must meet the following requirements:

    1. Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or national.
    2. Academic Status: Must be an undergraduate student in good standing at a U.S. 2-year or 4-year institution.
    3. Military Dependents: Must be the child or spouse of active or activated U.S. military personnel.
    4. Financial Aid: Must be receiving, or be eligible for, Title IV federal financial aid at the time of application, or show proof that such aid will apply to their chosen study abroad or internship programme.
    5. Programme Acceptance: Must apply or be accepted into a credit-bearing study abroad or internship programme. Proof of acceptance is required before funds are disbursed.
    6. Destination: The programme must be in a country or region with a U.S. Department of State Travel Advisory Level 1 or 2. Locations with Level 3 or 4 advisories are not permitted, even within otherwise eligible countries.

    • Programme Year: Scholarships support programmes taking place during the upcoming academic terms after selection.
