Fellowship Overview
The C²DH Scholar at Risk Fellowship 2026 is a two-month programme that aims to support researchers facing danger in their home countries. This fellowship is designed to promote international collaboration and knowledge exchange in the fields of:
- Contemporary History of Luxembourg
- Public History
- Contemporary European History
- Digital History & Historiography
Fellowship Benefits
Selected fellows will receive comprehensive support, including:
- €1,200 per month for accommodation costs
- €1,800 per month for daily living expenses
- Full coverage of travel and insurance
- Office space and logistical support in Luxembourg (or the Greater Region)
- Assistance in securing suitable accommodation
- Opportunities to present research in seminars or colloquia at the University of Luxembourg

Eligibility Criteria
The fellowship is open to scholars at risk, defined as researchers who are:
- Experiencing violence, harassment, or persecution
- Facing arrest threats or general physical danger due to conflict
- Displaced or unable to work in their home country
Applicants are expected to:
- Propose a research project relevant to the C²DH themes
- Be available to reside in Luxembourg or the Greater Region during the fellowship
- Present their research in a seminar or colloquium before the end of the stay
