    The Documented Media Training Program 2026 is a transformative initiative designed to support U.S.-based newsrooms in building stronger editorial products for and with immigrant communities. This hands-on training equips journalists with the tools to foster trust, ensure ethical reporting, and build sustainable newsroom practices.


    About the Program

    “Building Bridges: An Immigrant Media Training Program” is a practical and immersive 15-module course developed to guide six selected U.S. newsrooms through the process of creating or enhancing editorial products tailored to immigrant communities.

    Through a combination of training modules, weekly virtual sessions, and expert guidance, participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to launch impactful, inclusive, and sustainable journalism projects.


    Key Features

    • Virtual Training: 15 intensive modules covering editorial product development, trust-building, ethics, and sustainability.
    • Stipend Support: Each participating newsroom receives a $10,000 stipend to help kick-start their project.
    • Investment Opportunity: Access to a final investment round for additional financial support.
    • Ongoing Support: Newsrooms join a community of practice for continued peer learning and collaboration even after the programme ends.

    Eligibility Criteria

    The Documented Media Training Program 2026 is open to:

    • Reporters, producers, editors, and managers working in U.S.-based or U.S. territories’ newsrooms.
    • Newsrooms of all types: nonprofit, for-profit, community-based, and university-affiliated.
    • Teams committed to serving immigrant communities and building inclusive journalism practices.

    Team Requirements

    • At least one full-time staff member must attend weekly virtual sessions.
    • At least one additional team member (full-time or part-time) should support project development, fundraising, and sustainability.
