TWAS Fellowships for Research and Advanced Training 2025–2026

    Deadline: October 6, 2025

Are you a young scientist from a developing country seeking to enhance your research expertise and collaborate internationally? The TWAS Fellowships for Research and Advanced Training 2025–2026 are now open for applications. This prestigious programme offers early-career scientists the opportunity to advance their skills, conduct research, and build international networks in other developing countries.

About the TWAS Fellowships for Research and Advanced Training 2025–2026

The TWAS Fellowships for Research and Advanced Training 2025–2026 aim to strengthen scientific capacity in developing nations by supporting short-term research and advanced training opportunities. The programme encourages South–South collaboration, allowing scientists to work in institutions across the Global South, gain hands-on experience, and bring valuable expertise back to their home countries.

    Fellowship Benefits

    Selected fellows will receive:

    • International airfare (low-cost ticket provided by TWAS).
    • Monthly subsistence allowance of up to USD 300.
    • Host institution support, including accommodation, meals, and access to research facilities (note: TWAS does not cover these costs).

    Duration

The fellowship lasts between 3 and 12 months, depending on the research project and host institution’s agreement.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Applicants must:

    • Hold at least an MSc or equivalent degree.
    • Be citizens and employed researchers in a developing country.
    • Work in a field related to natural sciences.
    • Secure a host institution in a developing country (institutions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) are not eligible).
    • Provide all required documents (see below).

Note: There is no age limit; however, preference is given to early-career scientists and those from Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

    Required Documents

Applicants must prepare and submit the following documents:

    1. Scanned copy of passport (valid or expired).
    2. Curriculum Vitae (CV) – maximum 5 pages, including list of publications.
    3. Supporting statement from the head of the applicant’s home institution (cannot also serve as a referee).
    4. Two reference letters from senior scientists familiar with the applicant’s work.
    5. Copy of MSc certificate and transcripts.
    6. Official invitation letter from the head of the host institution, confirming research collaboration and facilities support.
