For its 38th edition, the CNCDH Human Rights Prize 2025 focuses on combating the exploitation and trafficking of children.

About the CNCDH Human Rights Prize

The Human Rights Prize of the French Republic (Prix des Droits de l’Homme de la République française) was established in 1988 and is awarded annually by the CNCDH. It recognises individuals and NGOs worldwide who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to advancing human rights.


Theme for 2025: Combating Child Exploitation and Trafficking

In 2025, the prize is dedicated to tackling the exploitation and trafficking of children. Projects should focus on protecting children from abuse, providing support and rehabilitation for victims, and preventing future violations.


Award Details

  • Financial Endowment: €70,000 shared among five winners.
  • Special Recognition: Laureates also receive lifetime diplomatic protection from France.
  • Award Ceremony: Winners will be honoured in France on 10 December 2025, coinciding with International Human Rights Day.

Eligibility Criteria

The prize is open to:

  • Individuals of any nationality.
  • Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) with ongoing or completed projects.

Eligible projects must:

  • Address child trafficking and exploitation, implemented in France or abroad.
  • Support young victims with transformative or restorative interventions.
  • Include active participation of children in project design or execution.
  • Promote awareness, victim identification, rehabilitation, training (e.g. law enforcement, judiciary, educators), legal advocacy, and access to justice.

Applications must be submitted in French and include:

  1. Letter of Application signed by the legal representative or candidate.
  2. Completed Application Form detailing project actions.
  3. Presentation of the NGO (if applicable), including statutes and operations.
  4. Full postal and banking details (IBAN and SWIFT).
