The AAUW Selected Professions Fellowship Program 2026 is designed to increase the representation of women in fields where they have been historically underrepresented, particularly in STEM. Funded by the American Association of University Women (AAUW), the fellowship provides a substantial stipend to support graduate education for women committed to breaking barriers and making a difference.

Fellowship Benefits

  • Funding Amount: Successful applicants will receive a $20,000 stipend, paid in two instalments – one at the beginning of the fellowship year and the other at the midpoint.
  • Duration: The fellowship covers the 2026–2027 academic year.

Fields of Study

Applicants must be pursuing a degree in one of the following fields:

  • Architecture
  • Natural and Physical Sciences
  • Technology
  • Engineering
  • Mathematics
  • Medicine

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the AAUW Selected Professions Fellowship Program 2026, applicants must:

  • Identify as a woman.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Be enrolled in a full-time master’s or professional degree programme.
  • Be pursuing their first such degree (those who already hold one are ineligible).
  • Attend either:
    • An accredited U.S. institution, or
    • An international institution eligible for U.S. federal student aid.
  • Ensure that their programme begins on or before September 1, 2026, and ends on or after April 30, 2027.

  • Clear career goals in STEM and evidence of commitment to the chosen field.

  • Are first-generation college graduates.
  • Come from single-parent households.
