    Deadline: August 28, 2025

Are you a passionate young African leader ready to shape the future of youth development across the continent? The YouthConnekt Africa Youth Advisory Council 2025 is calling for nominations! This is an exciting opportunity for emerging leaders aged 23–35 to directly influence youth policies and programmes across 37 member countries.

What is the YouthConnekt Africa Youth Advisory Council?

The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a new initiative by YouthConnekt Africa (YCA). It aims to ensure African youth have a formal seat at the table when decisions are made. Comprising 10 exceptional young people from across Africa, the council will advise YCA leadership on strategies, programmes, and partnerships that are inclusive, innovative, and effective.

This council plays a pivotal role in shaping youth empowerment policies and driving accountability within the YouthConnekt Africa framework. The YouthConnekt Africa Youth Advisory Council 2025 is its first-ever cohort—making it a landmark opportunity for youth across the continent.

    Key Responsibilities of Council Members

    Youth Advisory Council members will:

    • Advise Strategically: Offer insights into emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities affecting African youth.
    • Review Programmes: Assess and recommend improvements on YCA initiatives from a youth perspective.
    • Champion Youth Voice: Represent YCA at key events and advocate for youth inclusion at all levels.
    • Enhance Transparency: Provide feedback and recommendations on YCA operations to ensure accountability.
    • Drive Innovation: Propose fresh ideas and connect with partners, youth organisations, and private sector players.
    • Mobilise Youth: Encourage young people across Africa to engage with YouthConnekt Africa activities and campaigns.

    Who Can Be Nominated?

To be eligible for nomination to the Youth Advisory Council:

    • You must be aged 23 to 35 years.
    • You must be a citizen or permanent resident of any YouthConnekt Africa member country.
    • Fluency in English or French is required.
    • You should have demonstrated leadership, advocacy, or impact in youth development, civic engagement, entrepreneurship, innovation, climate, or inclusion.

The Council aims for regional, gender, and thematic balance. At least 50% of members will be women, and youth from marginalised communities (e.g. rural youth, youth with disabilities) are encouraged to apply.

    Term, Meetings, and Support

    • Term Length: 2 years (renewable once for a maximum of 4 years).
    • Meetings: Quarterly virtual meetings and one in-person annual meeting (subject to funding).
    • Support: YCA will provide administrative and logistical support, along with a dedicated liaison for coordination.
    • Members must adhere to a code of conduct, maintain confidentiality, and actively contribute. Poor performance or misconduct may lead to removal.

    Nomination Process and Deadline

Nominations must be submitted by ministries responsible for youth, recognised institutions, or notable individuals in the youth development space.
