This prestigious honour recognises a distinguished individual who has made a profound, measurable, and long-lasting impact in advancing the rights, freedoms, and well-being of Black Canadians.

Whether through advocacy, education, leadership, or systemic change, this award celebrates those whose legacy has uplifted communities and inspired generations.


About the BlackNorth Initiative Lifetime Achievement Award

The BlackNorth Initiative Lifetime Achievement Award 2025 honours individuals with a minimum of 10 years of impactful contributions that have influenced individuals, organisations, or society at large in support of Black communities across Canada. These changemakers have shaped culture, language, education, and social justice within the Black and BIPOC landscape.

Award Highlights:

  • Presented at the 3rd Annual BlackNorth Initiative Excellence Gala
  • Two recipients will be selected
  • Each winner will direct a $15,000 prize to a registered charity or non-profit of their choice that supports the Black community

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the BlackNorth Initiative Lifetime Achievement Award 2025, nominees must meet the following requirements:

  • Self-identify as Black or of African descent
  • Have at least 10 years of documented accomplishments advocating for the rights and well-being of Black Canadians
  • Demonstrate leadership, ingenuity, and measurable community impact
  • Focus of work must align with Black culture, language, education, and/or rights

Donation Recipient Requirements

Each winner will nominate a charity or NPO to receive the $15,000 donation. To be eligible, the organisation must:

  • Be active on the Corporations Canada registry
  • Be a registered Canadian charity or non-profit
  • Demonstrate a strong track record of service to the Black community
  • Align with the missions and ethics of both BlackNorth Initiative and Enbridge

Award Evaluation Criteria

Nominees must clearly demonstrate:

  • Outstanding leadership and a lasting commitment to uplifting others
  • Support for Black culture, language, education, or civil rights
  • A well-documented record of impactful initiatives with tangible results

  • 🗓️ Nomination Deadline: August 14, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST
  • 🗓️ Charity/NPO Submission by Winners: May 3, 2026
  • 🏆 Award Presentation: Fall 2026 at the 3rd Annual BlackNorth Initiative Excellence Gala
