Agricultural small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Africa now have an exciting opportunity to strengthen their resilience against climate change. The Building Resilience Against Climate and Environmental Shocks Program – Africa is now open for applications. This initiative is designed to equip agripreneurs with practical tools, training, and mentorship to build climate-smart, future-ready agri-businesses.

The Building Resilience Against Climate and Environmental Shocks Program – Africa offers a unique blend of self-paced learning, interactive mentorship, and real-world application—all geared towards sustainable business growth in the face of environmental stress.

    About the Programme

The programme is led by African Food Changemakers (AFC) and is designed specifically for agribusiness SMEs operating across the African continent. It targets businesses ready to transition towards sustainable agricultural practices by offering tools and knowledge that directly address the climate challenges threatening food systems.

Through a six-week structured training experience, selected participants will learn how to adapt their businesses using proven climate-smart techniques and strategies. They will also gain access to critical knowledge about climate financing opportunities.

    What the Programme Offers

Participants will benefit from the following key components:

    1. Climate Readiness Diagnostic Tool

A pre-training tool to assess current awareness, readiness, and the level of integration of climate-resilient practices within each applicant’s business.

    2. Self-paced Online Learning Modules

Over six weeks, participants will engage in a curated series of training modules focused on climate adaptation and mitigation, tailored specifically for agribusiness contexts.

    3. Real-world Greening Projects

Participants will be guided to implement practical, climate-smart business improvements, demonstrating measurable change throughout the programme.

    4. Hybrid Training Format

The programme combines virtual and live learning through interactive sessions with climate and business experts, along with peer group mentoring.

    5. Networking and Mentorship

AFC connects participants with experienced agripreneurs, technical mentors, and financial advisors, fostering long-term professional growth and collaboration.

    6. Resources for Climate Financing

Dedicated tools and insights will be shared on how to access climate finance and integrate sustainable investments into business models.
